During their meeting, the leaders held productive discussions regarding Assam’s remarkable developmental trajectory. Goyal highlighted the state’s growing role as a primary engine of economic progress in the North East. Their talks centered on actionable strategies for boosting regional exports, attracting new investments and significantly strengthening Assam’s industrial capabilities.

Additionally, the two leaders exchanged views on expanding the UNNATI (Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization) scheme. They discussed how broadening this initiative will further support grassroots entrepreneurship, empower local businesses and drive inclusive economic growth across the state. The meeting underscores the Central Government’s focus on accelerating Assam’s transformation into a major industrial and economic hub for the region.

According to the bill, it will amend more than 350 provisions, making it easier for Indian citizens to comply with the laws. Earlier, the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act was passed in 2023, under which 183 provisions of 42 central Acts were decriminalised. The Act amended several old provisions related to imprisonment and fines so that ordinary citizens are not overburdened.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day address on August 15, talked about laws that provide for stringent punishment for minor offences. He had said, “Our country has laws that sound strange but provide for imprisonment even in minor cases. I have pledged to ensure that such unnecessary and archaic laws that put our citizens behind bars are eliminated.”

In this context, the government has already eliminated more than 40,000 non-compliances and repealed more than 1500 archaic laws. The government aims to simplify the processes of business and life and provide freedom to the common citizen.
