Maithili Thakur Birth and Family

Maithili was born in Benipatti, Madhubani district, Bihar. Her father, Ramesh Thakur, himself associated with Mithila music, and her mother, Bharti Thakur, encouraged Maithili’s musical pursuits from childhood.

Two younger brothers—Rishav (tabla player) and Ayachi (singer)—are also active in the musical field and are often seen on stage with Maithili. Maithili is currently unmarried.

On October 14, 2025, she formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).In the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, she won the Alinagar seat and became an MLA.
