JODHPUR: As the scorching summer heat peaks, the Rajasthan government is shifting into an active gear to combat potential water scarcity. Taking stock of the ground reality, the State Minister for Parliamentary and Legal Affairs, Shri Jogaram Patel, conducted a comprehensive tour of the Luni and Rajaur villages in the Jodhpur district on Saturday (June 13).

During his visit, the minister not only engaged in direct dialogue with the local residents to understand their daily struggles but also issued stringent directives to the administrative machinery to ensure a flawless water supply system.

“Step Out of Offices”: Strict Directives to PHED Officials

Addressing the officials of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Minister Patel made it crystal clear that a water crisis in any village or remote hamlet (dhani) will not be tolerated during the harsh summer months. Providing regular, clean, and safe drinking water to the public remains the top priority of the state government.

He strictly instructed the engineering staff to remain active in the field and personally monitor the water pipelines. Any technical faults or leakages must be repaired immediately. Furthermore, he mandated that areas where pipeline supply is temporarily disrupted—especially the tail-end villages—must immediately be serviced through alternative arrangements like water tankers to ensure no household goes without water.

Monsoon Preparations: Cleaning the Luni Pond

Keeping an eye on the upcoming rainy season, Shri Patel inspected the condition of the local pond in Luni. He immediately directed the Panchayati Raj Department officials to launch a thorough cleaning drive of the pond and its surrounding catchment area before the monsoon arrives. This proactive step aims to maximize rainwater conservation and ensure the stored water can be utilized effectively throughout the year.

A Heartfelt Appeal to Revive Traditional Water Heritage

Expressing deep concern over the rapidly depleting groundwater levels and the escalating global water crisis, the Minister highlighted the urgent need to protect traditional water sources.

He pointed out that ancient water bodies such as traditional wells, stepwells (baoris), and village ponds are facing severe neglect today. “These heritage sources are not just the foundation of our water self-reliance but are also critical for maintaining environmental balance,” Patel noted. Concluding his visit, he passionately urged the villagers to adopt rainwater harvesting techniques and participate in the restoration of these traditional reservoirs to secure water for future generations.

Jodhpur/Jaipur: Owning a house is perhaps the most profound dream for any common man. On Saturday, this lifelong aspiration transformed into a beautiful reality for 110 families in Jodhpur when they received the keys to their new, permanent homes under the ‘Mukhyamantri Jan Awas Yojana‘. The moment was not just emotional; it marked their very first step toward a secure, dignified, and stable future.

A special ceremony titled “Griha Gaurav: Khushiyon Ki Chabi” (Pride of a Home: The Key to Happiness) was hosted at the Marwar International Center in Jodhpur. The State Minister for Parliamentary and Legal Affairs, Shri Jogaram Patel, graced the occasion as the chief guest and personally handed over the keys to the ecstatic beneficiaries.

Modern Urban Amenities in Badli Village

Addressing the gathering, Minister Jogaram Patel emphasized that the government is not merely handing over structures made of brick and mortar; it is providing a solid foundation for a respectable life. He highlighted that the newly constructed housing project in the Badli village of Jodhpur is fully equipped with modern urban amenities, ensuring that residents have access to high-quality, sustainable infrastructure.

A Historic Model of ‘Garib Kalyan’ Under PM Modi

Shedding light on the central government’s monumental achievements, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister noted that during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s successful 12-year tenure, the nation has witnessed an unprecedented parallel of rapid development and welfare for the poor (Garib Kalyan).

Speaking on the resolute vision of “Housing for All,” he shared several critical milestones:

Crossing the 4 Crore Mark: Driven by the Prime Minister’s vision, the construction of over 4 crore houses under the PM Awas Yojana has already been completed nationwide.

PMAY-U 2.0 Goals: Launched recently in September 2024, the second phase of this flagship scheme targets providing permanent housing to an additional one crore eligible urban families by the year 2028-29.

Accelerated Housing Development in Rajasthan

Presenting the state government’s report card over the past two years, Shri Patel proudly stated that Rajasthan has made remarkable strides in housing under the sensitive leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma. Within this short span:

Urban Sector: A total of 48,000 new homes have been sanctioned across the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0.

Rural Sector: Simultaneously, over 7.16 lakh houses have been approved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) in the last two years alone.

The heartfelt event concluded with smiling faces and a renewed sense of hope among the beneficiaries. These initiatives stand as a testament that when national interest is the ultimate goal and intentions are pure, transformative changes can reach the last person standing in society.
