PWD Superintending Engineer Satish Gupta stated that under the PMGSY, 2383.98 kilometers of roads have been constructed, upgraded, widened, strengthened, and renovated in the district through a total of 686 projects. Over ₹587.15 crore has been spent on these projects over the past 25 years, significantly strengthening the district’s road network.

Notable Achievements by Phase

PMGSY Phase 1 saw the construction of 510 new roads out of a total of 516 roads connecting 565 settlements and hamlets in the district. Their total length was 1356.63 kilometers, on which ₹278.40 crore was spent. Additionally, 536.41 kilometers of work was completed on the strengthening and widening of 64 roads at a cost of ₹141.56 crore.

Under Phase-2, 111.60 kilometers of work was completed on the strengthening and widening of 16 roads at a cost of ₹53.82 crore. In Phase-3, 213.03 kilometers of work was completed on 29 roads at a cost of ₹98.20 crore.

Additionally, 166.31 kilometers of roads were renovated at a cost of ₹15.17 crore under the Financial Incentive Scheme for the renovation of 67 roads constructed in PMGSY Phase-1.

Development Gains New Momentum

Through PMGSY, remote rural areas of Jhunjhunu district have been connected to main roads, state and national highways. This has not only made transportation easier but has also strengthened the villagers’ access to education, medical care, markets and employment.

Executive Engineer Rakesh Kumar said that in this journey of rural development, the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana has proved to be a strong foundation of development for Jhunjhunu district.
