Understanding Jaipur’s ‘Panch Gaurav’ Initiative

To ensure the holistic growth of the district, five distinct sectors have been identified under the ‘Panch Gaurav’ framework:

• One District One Product (ODOP): Gems & Jewellery
• One District One Crop (ODOF): Amla (Gooseberry)
• One District One Flora Species: Lisoda (Bird Lime Tree)
• One District One Sport: Kabaddi
• One District One Tourist Destination: Amer Fort

Action Plan and Activity Calendar for 2026-27

Aligning with the vision of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, Collector Nayak directed all concerned departments to release a dedicated calendar of activities for the financial year 2026-27. To raise awareness, ‘Panch Gaurav’ branding through hoardings, standees, and banners will be mandatory at all government-organized events, camps, and conferences. Furthermore, educational institutions (both government and private) will host competitions to educate the youth about these regional treasures.

Key Departmental Directives Issued:

• Forest & Horticulture Department: Focus on mega plantation drives for Lisoda and Amla. ‘Vriksha Mitras’ (Friends of Trees) will be appointed to ensure the survival and care of these saplings. Effective marketing strategies will also be developed for these crops.
• Sports Department: To foster athletic talent among the youth, regular Kabaddi tournaments will be organized at the Gram Panchayat, Sub-division, and District levels.
• Tourism Department: Infrastructure around Amer Fort will be upgraded, focusing on better connectivity, parking, clean drinking water, sanitation, signage, and lighting. To generate local employment, specialized guide training programs will be introduced, and historical literature will be distributed to tourists.
• Industries & Handlooms: Regular skill-development workshops will be conducted to connect the youth with Jaipur’s world-renowned Gems and Jewellery sector, encouraging local entrepreneurship.

The high-level meeting saw active participation from Smt. Pratibha Verma (CEO, Zila Parishad), Smt. Vinita Singh (Additional District Collector I), and senior officials from the Statistics and Planning departments, who joined both in person and via video conferencing.
