Main Allegations

Bharti Dixit claims that Ashish Modi provided her with false information at the time of their marriage. She alleges that Modi emotionally pressured her into marriage to secure a Rajasthan cadre. Dixit also accuses her husband of assault, threats, extramarital affairs, and pressure for divorce.

After their marriage, Modi’s behavior was often aggressive and threatening. This situation worsened after the birth of their daughter through IVF in 2018. Dixit said that her husband even tried to strangle her several times. Out of fear, she lived with her parents in Delhi for a while, but ultimately remained with her family even after her maternity leave ended.–

Sections of the case

According to SMS Hospital Police Station in-charge Ramkesh, based on the complaint, a case has been registered against Ashish Modi under sections 85 (forced marriage), 308(2), 127(2), 140(3), 61(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 66, 66C, and 66D of the IT Act. Given the seriousness of the case, the investigation has been assigned to ACP Shrimanlal Meena.

Who is the accused IAS officer?

Ashish Modi is also a 2014 batch IAS officer. He has served in several important departments of the Rajasthan government and is currently posted on election duty in Bihar.

Background of the dispute

The dispute arose due to allegations of discrepancies between the information given by Modi at the time of the marriage and his actual circumstances. Dixit alleges that her father was suffering from cancer and that Modi took advantage of this vulnerable situation to marry her. After this, the husband’s behavior at home became even more aggressive.
