Jaipur, Rajasthan:

In a determined effort to protect child rights and eradicate social evils like child labor, the Rajasthan Police has announced a month-long special campaign titled “Umang-VII.” Acting on the directives of Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar Sharma, the campaign will be conducted across the state from June 1 to June 30, 2026. The primary objective is to effectively curb child labor, bonded child labor, and human trafficking (child trafficking), while ensuring the rescue and rehabilitation of victimized children.

Campaign Strategy and Coordination

Additional Director General of Police (Civil Rights & AHT) Havasingh Ghumariya has issued detailed guidelines to all Police Commissioners, Range IGs, Deputy Commissioners of Police, and District Superintendents of Police, emphasizing the need to conduct the campaign with utmost sensitivity and coordination.

Nodal Officers: An officer at the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) level has been appointed as the Nodal Officer in every district to oversee the campaign.

Inter-departmental Synergy: The operation will be a collaborative effort involving the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, the Department of Women and Child Development, the Labor Department, the Child Rights Department, Child Welfare Committees (CWCs), and various NGOs.

Thane-wise Rescue Teams

To ensure ground-level effectiveness, the Police Headquarters has mandated the formation of special rescue teams in every police station.

Team Composition: Each team will consist of four police personnel, led by an SI or ASI.

Training: Before the commencement of the campaign, these teams will undergo specialized training to effectively identify cases of child labor and trafficking. These teams will also include representatives from NGOs and relevant social welfare departments to ensure a coordinated and sensitive rehabilitation process.

Screening and Legal Actions

Police teams will conduct intensive screening operations at hotels, dhabas, brick kilns, factories, railway platforms, bus stands, religious sites, and temporary settlements. The authorities have been instructed to document the details and photographs of identified children. Rescued children will undergo medical and, if necessary, psychological evaluations before being presented before the Child Welfare Committee.

Zero Tolerance Policy

The Police Headquarters has reiterated a “Zero Tolerance” policy toward child exploitation. Efforts will be made to track organized gangs involved in child trafficking, and strict legal action will be taken under the following provisions:
