Karauli: Farmers and villagers in Hindaun City staged a protest against the proposed Beawar-Bharatpur Green Expressway, expressing strong opposition to the project. In a dramatic move, several villagers climbed a water tank near the Suroth tehsil office to draw attention to their demands.

After receiving information about the protest, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate reached the spot and held discussions with the demonstrators. Following nearly 30 minutes of persuasion, the protesters agreed to come down.

The affected farmers submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister through the local administration, demanding immediate cancellation of the expressway project. They stated that objections had already been raised during the public hearing, but their concerns were not adequately addressed.

According to the villagers, the proposed road is planned at an elevated height, which would block access routes to agricultural fields. This could create serious difficulties for farming, irrigation, and livestock-related activities.

They also pointed out that farmers would be forced to take longer routes to reach their fields, leading to increased time and financial losses. Concerns were raised that small and marginal farmers could be severely impacted, with some even facing the risk of losing their livelihoods.

As an alternative, the villagers suggested upgrading and widening the existing Bharatpur–Hindaun–Karauli–Sawai Madhopur State Mega Highway instead of constructing a new expressway. They believe this would benefit the public while reducing land acquisition issues.

The protesters clearly stated that they are not willing to give up their land for the project and urged the administration to seriously consider their demands.

A woman from Khareta village in Hindaun City, Mamta Jatav, has successfully recovered ₹49,998 after falling victim to a cyber fraud in December 2024. The scammers sent her a message pretending to offer an LIC bonus, and tricked her into giving access to her bank account.

On December 26, she lodged a complaint at Sadar Police Station. Acting swiftly, Station House Officer (SHO) Devendra Sharma contacted the bank’s nodal officer and registered the complaint with the cyber fraud helpline 1930.

Due to timely action by police and bank officials, the transaction was blocked and the entire amount was recovered. SHO Sharma advised people to immediately report any suspected cybercrime, stating that early action often leads to successful recovery of lost funds.
