Weather Forecast for Major Cities and States

Delhi-NCR: The national capital and its surrounding regions are expected to record maximum temperatures between 36°C and 38°C today. While skies will remain partly cloudy, there is a strong possibility of light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 50 km/h are likely to bring a noticeable drop in the temperature by the evening.

Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow and Other Districts): A ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for several parts of Uttar Pradesh. Dust storms and thundershowers are highly probable. While temperatures may hover between 38°C and 40°C during the day, the expected rainfall will bring much-needed cooling.

Mumbai and Maharashtra: Mumbai will see maximum temperatures around 32-33°C and minimums near 28-29°C. Due to high humidity levels, the “real feel” temperature may be higher. Cloudy skies and light drizzles are expected in some coastal areas.

South India (Chennai and Bengaluru): In Chennai, the mercury is likely to touch 36-37°C. Parts of interior South India are expected to witness higher than normal heat. Conversely, Bengaluru will enjoy relatively pleasant weather with maximum temperatures ranging between 30°C and 32°C.

Rajasthan and Gujarat (Jaipur/Ahmedabad): The impact of summer will be most severe in these North-Western states. Heatwave conditions are likely in certain areas of Jaipur and Ahmedabad, where maximum temperatures could cross the 42°C mark.

The Meteorological Department indicates that rainfall across most of the country will be above average this May. Night temperatures are also expected to remain above normal in many regions. While the North-Eastern and Southern parts of India may see an increase in heatwave days, Central and Northern India will benefit from intermittent relief due to pre-monsoon activities.

• Heat Protection: In areas facing high temperatures, avoid stepping outdoors between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.
