With the rapid progress of the Rajasthan Refinery, new doors for investment, industry, and employment are opening up in the state. As part of this broader economic push, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is preparing to establish over 300 new petrol pumps across Rajasthan in its first phase. To set up these new retail outlets, HPCL will make a substantial investment of approximately ₹400 crore.

On Saturday, June 27, a high-level meeting was held at the Secretariat in Jaipur under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary V. Srinivas. Top officials from HPCL and HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL) participated in the discussions. The Chief Secretary comprehensively reviewed the progress made so far regarding the allocation of government land on lease for setting up these fuel stations.

New Land Allocation Policy by July 31

A total of 304 locations have already been identified across the state for opening these new petrol pumps. During the high-level meeting, a crucial decision was made to draft a new policy by July 31. Under the provisions of this upcoming policy, the state government will provide government land on lease to HPCL, facilitating a smooth setup for the new retail outlets.

₹80,000 Crore Refinery Project to Boost Growth

The Rajasthan Refinery is a vital project for the state’s economy. Valued at a massive ₹80,000 crore, this initiative is expected to provide a significant boost to new investments and employment generation. During the meeting, HPCL and HRRL also requested the state government to grant them the status of a ‘preferential supplier’ for fuel purchases made by government departments under the RTPP Act. The primary objective behind this request is to ensure maximum capacity utilization of the HRRL refinery located in Rajasthan.

Government’s Commitment to a Time-Bound Action Plan

The state government reiterated its strong commitment to moving forward with all these initiatives in a time-bound manner, working in close coordination with HPCL and HRRL. This significant hybrid-mode meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary (Mines) Aparna Arora, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Bhaskar A. Sawant, Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education) Kuldeep Ranka, Additional Chief Secretary (UDH) Alok Gupta, Principal Secretary (Finance) Vaibhav Galariya, Principal Secretary (Revenue) T. Ravikant, and HPCL Director of Marketing Amit Garg.

Conclusion: The establishment of new petrol pumps with an investment of ₹400 crore by HPCL is a highly positive and far-reaching outcome of the Rajasthan Refinery project. The upcoming land lease policy and collaborative government efforts will not only strengthen the state’s infrastructure but also create abundant local employment opportunities.
