Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has once again showcased his highly accessible and grounded working style. On Saturday night, the Chief Minister took a surprise stroll through the streets of the state’s famous hill station, Aburaj (Mount Abu). His unexpected visit pleasantly surprised both local residents and tourists alike.

During his night tour, CM Sharma inspected the main market situated on Mall Road entirely on foot. Sidestepping heavy VIP protocols, he directly interacted with local shopkeepers, tourists shopping late at night, and general citizens, actively inquiring about their well-being and experiences.

Seeing the Chief Minister suddenly walking among them, the public was filled with immense enthusiasm. He engaged in warm and candid conversations with women and youth, and affectionately greeted the children. Several youngsters and tourists enthusiastically approached him for selfies, to which the CM happily and patiently obliged.

A Walk from Mall Road to Nakki Lake

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s walking tour was not confined merely to the market area. Strolling down Mall Road, he walked all the way to Mount Abu’s most iconic landmark, ‘Nakki Lake’. He met with tourists and locals present at the garden situated near the lake. During these interactions, the Chief Minister sought direct, ground-level feedback from the public regarding the ongoing development projects and civic amenities in the Aburaj region.

Enjoying a Serene Boat Ride in Nakki Lake

After discussing development works with the visitors, the Chief Minister also took out time to enjoy a boat ride in Nakki Lake. Sailing through the serene and peaceful nighttime atmosphere of the lake, he closely observed the surrounding natural beauty and the current tourism arrangements. This hands-on approach is being viewed as a meaningful effort to promote local tourism and understand ground realities up close.

Conclusion: Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s Mount Abu tour is a crucial part of his ongoing strategy to connect directly with the masses. On this special occasion, he was accompanied by Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Otaram Dewasi, Minister of State for Industry and Commerce K.K. Vishnoi, MP Madan Rathore, and MP Lumbaram Choudhary, along with various other public representatives, administrative officials, and local traders. His proactive initiative to step out among the public to gather honest feedback is garnering widespread appreciation across the state.

New Delhi: The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India has categorically rejected a report broadcasted by the Indian news channel ‘Aaj Tak’, which claimed that the Iranian public is being forced to buy bread (roti) in installments (EMIs) due to a severe economic crisis. Issuing an official statement, the embassy condemned the claims as completely misleading and far from reality.

The controversy has sparked a fresh debate over media credibility, journalistic ethics, and the selection of sources for international reporting.

What Was the ‘Aaj Tak’ Claim?

During the prime-time show ‘Black and White’, anchor Anjana Om Kashyap cited a report by ‘Iran International’ to assert that international sanctions and a deep economic downturn have led to massive food shortages in Iran. The broadcast claimed that the situation had deteriorated to the point where common citizens were purchasing daily essentials, specifically roti, on EMI.

The Iranian Embassy’s Official Rebuttal

In an official statement released on June 11, the Iranian Embassy strongly pushed back against the broadcast. The key highlights of their statement include:

Normal Supply of Essentials: The embassy clarified that despite facing the consequences of three wars and extensive international pressure, there is absolutely no shortage of essential commodities or basic necessities in Iran.

Effective Governance: Under the leadership of President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, the procurement, supply, and distribution of essential goods continue in a normal, stable, and uninterrupted manner.

Questioning ‘Iran International’: The embassy urged the respected Indian media to rely only on credible and verifiable sources. They explicitly called out ‘Iran International’, stating it is a media outlet affiliated with adversaries of the Iranian people and has a long, documented history of pushing biased, anti-Iranian political agendas.

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India categorically rejects the reports and claims circulated by certain media outlets regarding the economic situation in Iran and alleged difficulties in the supply of essential goods and public necessities.

It is emphasized that,… pic.twitter.com/KUoJ4xHOCg
— Iran in India (@Iran_in_India) June 11, 2026

The Economic Reality in Iran: A Look at the Data

While the embassy vehemently denied any shortage of essential goods, international reports suggest that Iran is indeed navigating significant economic headwinds and high inflation.

According to official statistics from May, the country’s overall inflation rate stood at 77.2 percent.

Food prices witnessed a staggering increase of 113 percent.

International sanctions have placed immense pressure on the economy, with occasional reports of queues for essentials in specific regions like Malard.

However, the embassy maintains that coining the phrase ‘Roti on EMI’ is an extreme exaggeration and a deliberate attempt to present an insulting narrative.

Journalistic Integrity Questioned: Mohammed Zubair’s Reaction

The controversy also drew the attention of Alt News co-founder and fact-checker Mohammed Zubair, who took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to call out the news channel’s reporting standards.

Questioning the lack of a balanced narrative, Zubair tweeted:

“So @Iran_in_India Iran Embassy calls out claims aired by @anjanaomkashyap and @aajtak about the economic crisis in Iran. When an official embassy issues a direct rebuttal, shouldn’t viewers be told about the rebuttal or at least both sides of the story?”

So @Iran_in_India Iran Embassy calls out claims aired by @anjanaomkashyap and @aajtak about the economic crisis in Iran.
When an official embassy issues a direct rebuttal, shouldn't viewers be told about the rebuttal or atleast both sides of the story? pic.twitter.com/TIdGFVghXd
— Mohammed Zubair (@zoo_bear) June 11, 2026

Conclusion

This incident underscores the critical importance of responsible international reporting and the necessity of using verifiable sources. While economic data confirms high inflation in Iran, sensational claims like ‘Roti on EMI’ have been officially debunked. Media watchdogs are now urging newsrooms to present official rebuttals to maintain transparency and viewer trust.

Under a strict ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy, the state government has made it unequivocally clear that corruption will not be tolerated at any level of administration. In a bid to provide a transparent, sensitive, and corruption-free government to the public, several major disciplinary actions have been executed recently.

First India

Key Highlights of the Crackdown

Immediate Dismissal Upon Court Conviction

List of Dismissed Officers:

Officer’s Name

Post and Department

Bharat Prakash Meghwal

Former Development Officer (Suwana, Bhilwara), PWD

Rajesh Kumar Nainawat

Former Deputy Director of Agriculture (Jhunjhunu)

Mahavir Singh Asiwal

Former Assistant Commissioner (Finance Tax), Bharatpur

Dr. Ram Mohan Singh Chauhan

Medical Officer (CHC Bichhiwara, Dungarpur)

Dr. Murlidhar Sharma

Medical Officer (CHC Ramgarh Pachwara, Dausa)

Dr. Manohar Lal

Medical Officer (CHC Ramgarh, Alwar)

Zero Tolerance on Public Health Negligence

The Chief Minister recently took severe action in a critical case concerning public health. Pradeep Kumar Hajarti, a Senior Chemist at the PHED Alwar laboratory, was immediately dismissed from service for preparing fake quality test reports for drinking water samples.

Similarly, Hari Singh Meena, a former APP at ACJM-4 (Kota), was removed from service following a sentence pronounced by the ACB (Anti-Corruption Bureau) court.

Lifelong Pensions Stopped for 11 Officers
