PALI: In a remarkable agricultural achievement in the arid region of Pali, Rajasthan, a progressive farmer from Khairofada village is scripting a brilliant success story through date palm cultivation. By adopting modern drip irrigation and zero-budget natural farming techniques, the farmer is now earning an impressive annual income of ₹10 lakh from a once-barren land. On Wednesday, State Animal Husbandry Minister Joraram Kumawat visited the farm, highly praising this innovative agricultural model and calling it a monumental inspiration for other cultivators across the state.

Key Highlights of this News:

Patience Pays Off: 270 date palm saplings planted about 5 years ago have fully matured and are now yielding a bumper harvest.

Lucrative Income: The eco-friendly agricultural model generates a handsome profit of approximately ₹10 lakh annually for the farmer.

Water Conservation: The successful use of drip irrigation technology proves highly effective and economical for the desert landscape.

Zero-Budget Farming: The entire orchard is nurtured purely with natural and organic fertilizers, completely eliminating the use of harmful chemicals.

Five Years of Dedication Bears Fruit

During the field inspection, the local farmer shared his inspiring journey with Cabinet Minister Joraram Kumawat. He explained that roughly five years ago, he took a calculated risk by planting 270 date palm saplings on his land as an experiment. Thanks to scientific management, continuous care, and patience, all the plants have now fully grown and are bearing high-quality fruit. Impressed by this exceptional yield and the resulting ₹10 lakh annual revenue, the Minister warmly patted the farmer’s back for his hard work and innovative approach.

The Magic of Organic Manure and Drip Irrigation

The most striking feature of this date palm orchard is its 100% eco-friendly and sustainable approach. Understanding the critical water scarcity in the Marwar region, the farmer ingeniously adopted the ‘drip irrigation method’. This technique prevents water wastage, ensuring that every single drop is optimally utilized directly by the plant roots.

Furthermore, instead of relying on expensive and harsh chemical fertilizers like urea, the farmer uses pure organic and natural manure to nourish the soil. This dual strategy of water and soil management not only preserves the land’s natural fertility but also drastically reduces overall cultivation costs, making the agricultural venture highly profitable.

A ‘Role Model’ for State Farmers

Hailing the farmer’s outstanding achievement, Animal Husbandry Minister Joraram Kumawat stated that successfully growing a lush date palm orchard in a desert environment with limited water is nothing short of a boon for the region. He emphasized that this unique model of natural farming, precision agriculture, and water conservation directly aligns with the government’s vision of doubling farmers’ income.

The Minister urged local agricultural department officials and neighboring farmers to visit the site, learn from this successful zero-budget model, and actively promote similar horticultural practices in their respective areas.

KARAULI (RAJASTHAN): A new chapter of prosperity is being written in the Karauli district of Rajasthan. Breaking away from the shackles of traditional, low-yield farming, local farmers are proving that with strong willpower, modern technology, and government support, the land can indeed yield gold. The success stories of two farmers—Ashok Singh and Subhash Bairwa—have become a beacon of inspiration for the entire region.

Success Story 1: Smart Farming via Mulching and Drip Irrigation

Ashok Singh, a resident of Amargarh village in Sapotra Tehsil, used to practice traditional farming, which barely provided a basic living. However, under the guidance of the Horticulture Department, he revolutionized his methods.

Modern Infrastructure: Today, Ashok utilizes solar power pumps, along with drip and sprinkler irrigation systems, which ensure optimal water usage.

Advanced Techniques: By adopting plastic mulching, organic mulching, and low-tunnel technology, he has mastered the art of “early vegetable cultivation.” This allows his produce to hit the market before the peak season, fetching higher prices.

Market Reach: Through a dedicated nursery and the “staking” (trellis) method for tomatoes, his production has multiplied. His high-quality produce is now sold in major markets including Jaipur, Delhi, and Gangapur City.

Success Story 2: From Clerk to Millionaire via Polyhouse Farming

The journey of Subhash Bairwa, a resident of Churpura village in Todabhim Tehsil, is equally remarkable. Previously working as an accountant in a grain market to make ends meet, Subhash took a leap of faith in 2016 by establishing a polyhouse under the National Horticulture Mission.

Government Support: He received a significant 95% subsidy from the department to set up his 2016 sq. meter polyhouse.

Record Production: By using organic fertilizers and advanced greenhouse techniques, Subhash produced a record 42 metric tons of cucumbers in a single season.

Economic Leap: Previously earning a modest ₹20,000 to ₹25,000 a month, he now generates an annual net profit of approximately ₹1.2 million. Encouraged by this success, he plans to expand his operations with another 4000 sq. meter polyhouse.

Expert Advice: Embrace High-Tech Agriculture

Both Ashok and Subhash emphasize that the key to their success lies in government subsidies that significantly reduce initial costs. They advise fellow farmers to move away from traditional patterns and embrace high-tech horticulture, solar energy, and water-saving technologies like drip irrigation. According to them, this shift not only improves economic status but also elevates social prestige.
