Minister Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena stated that during a surprise inspection at Silver Park (RIICO) in Chaumun (Jaipur), a serious case of illegal packaging of substandard peanut seeds under the name of ‘Shri Balaji Agro Sikar’ by unauthorized companies named ‘Agro Genetics Crop Science’ and ‘GM Agro Industries’ was uncovered.

To protect the interests of farmers and establish effective control over counterfeit and substandard agricultural products, a comprehensive inspection and action campaign was conducted simultaneously by teams from the Agriculture Department in various districts of the state, including Jodhpur, Bikaner, Sikar, and Churu.

During the raid, legal action was taken against several illegal units involved in the production and packaging of substandard seeds and other agricultural products. Lakhs of empty bags and thousands of packed bags used for packaging peanut seeds of Kisan-510 (RG-510), SG-551 and RG-578 varieties were recovered from the spot. Apart from this, about 60 lakh empty peanut bags and about 2 lakh whole peanut bags were also found from the spot, from which the seeds were being illegally removed and used for packing the seeds.

During the inspection, high-tech machines for removing the seeds from peanuts and packaging bag sewing machines were also recovered. Strict action is being taken against the concerned units as per the rules in this entire matter.

Congress MLA from the Pipalda area, Chetan Patel, had come to Etawah to submit a memorandum to the SDM on behalf of farmers regarding crop damage. However, when the SDM did not come out to accept the memorandum, the MLA sat on a protest.

After this, Chetan Patel complained about the incident to Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena.

“I have also told the Chief Secretary, what is the use of an SDM who worsens the situation. This SDM needs treatment. I will get him treated and will also complain to the Chief Minister. This cannot go on like this.”

Kirori Lal Meena further stated that public representatives, regardless of their party affiliation, must be respected.

“Today we are in power, tomorrow someone else may be. But there is no party to the issue of farmers. This kind of treatment of public representatives cannot be tolerated,”

he said.

Numerous defects were found in approximately 34,000 quintals of wheat and 100,000 bags of seeds stored for seed packaging at this Sangaria-based seed company. The packaging displayed a Tamil Nadu address, even though the seeds were being packaged locally. Furthermore, approximately 10,000 quintals of mustard seeds had been treated with hazardous chemicals, potentially posing a safety risk to farmers.

Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena took the matter very seriously and demanded several necessary documents from the company’s representatives. He requested information from the company regarding genetic sources, a list of farmers producing seeds, field inspection reports, lot-wise lab testing reports, and seed grading reports. The findings revealed significant irregularities in the company’s operations, which are now under close scrutiny.

More importantly, Dr. Meena inspected all of the company’s warehouses, which housed mustard, wheat, and other crop seeds. Several serious irregularities were also found in these warehouses.

Until further orders, Dr. Meena has ordered a suspension of seed sales to ensure farmers are not exposed to substandard and dangerous seeds.

Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena said in his statement,

“I want to assure all my farmer brothers that under no circumstances will the farmers of the state be allowed to receive substandard seeds. Providing quality, certified, and safe seeds to farmers is my primary goal in life. I am and will continue to strive towards this commitment.”
