Jaipur | May 17, 2026

The Government of Rajasthan has taken a major policy step toward modernizing the state’s agricultural sector, boosting farmers’ incomes, and making India self-reliant in the production of edible oils and pulses. The State Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena, shared official details on Sunday, May 17, 2026, announcing that the Finance Department has granted final approval for a massive budgetary provision of ₹135 crore under the ‘National Mission on Edible Oils–Oilseeds and Pulses’.

The direct beneficiaries of this ambitious scheme will be approximately 260,000 farmers across Rajasthan, who will be provided with high-yielding, certified seeds for the upcoming sowing season either entirely free of cost or at highly subsidized rates.

Key Highlights and Execution Strategy of the Scheme

Funded under the central government’s ‘National Mission on Edible Oils’, this allocated budget will be strategically deployed to scale up productivity and integrate farmers with scientific agricultural practices:

Direct Support to 260,000 Farmers: Small, marginal, and progressive farmers across the state will be identified to receive high-quality certified seeds for major oilseed and pulse crops, including moong (green gram), urad (black gram), arhar (pigeon pea), soybean, mustard, sesame, and castor.

70,000 Live Crop Demonstrations: To demonstrate the effectiveness of advanced agricultural techniques and high-yielding seed varieties on the ground, 70,000 live crop demonstrations will be organized across the state. This initiative aims to encourage neighboring farmers to adopt scientific cultivation methods.

100% Centrally Sponsored: The entire financial outlay of ₹135 crore for this scheme will be borne under the central government’s National Mission framework, ensuring no additional financial strain on the state exchequer.

Directives for Time-Bound Ground-Level Distribution

Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirodi Lal clarified that administrative preparations for the rollout of this scheme under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan are complete. To ensure that farmers receive these quality seeds well in time for the monsoon and sowing cycles, the Department of Agriculture has issued necessary operational guidelines to all district-level officers and deputy directors.

Official Ministerial Statement: “The Government of Rajasthan is fully committed to welfare initiatives for farmers and structural development in agriculture. By boosting the domestic production of pulses and oilseeds, we will not only drive record growth in our farmers’ incomes but also contribute significantly toward reducing the nation’s heavy import bills, cementing Rajasthan’s pivotal role in making India self-reliant in edible oils and pulses.”
