Karauli | May 18, 2026

Amid the severe heatwave and steadily rising temperatures gripping Rajasthan, the Karauli district administration has introduced a compassionate humanitarian initiative to provide relief to local bird populations. On Monday, May 18, 2026, the district’s top administrative and law enforcement officials gathered for a brief, hands-on campaign within the Collectorate compound, personally hanging parindas (traditional earthen water pots) on various shade trees to officially launch the conservation drive.

This eco-friendly, animal-welfare campaign was spearheaded jointly by District Collector Akshay Godara, Superintendent of Police (SP) Lokesh Sonwal, and Additional District Collector (ADM) Hemraj Paridwal.

A Collective Commitment to Protecting Speechless Birds from Extreme Heat

After personally installing several earthen pots across the campus, District Collector Akshay Godara addressed the present administrative officers and staff, highlighting the social and ethical objectives behind the campaign.

Key Appeal from the District Collector: “The entire district is currently experiencing an intense heatwave and extraordinarily high temperatures. While citizens can manage resources and find shelter during this harsh season, finding water becomes a matter of life and death for speechless birds. Under these circumstances, ensuring regular food and water for them is not just an administrative task, but our highest moral and humanitarian responsibility.”

Call for Widespread Participation from Public Servants and Citizens

The administrative chiefs emphasized that this initiative should not remain confined to the Collectorate compound but should instead evolve into a broader community-driven movement. To facilitate this, the following official directives and appeals were issued:

Directives for Government Departments: All heads of government departments and public servants across the district have been instructed to prioritize installing water pots within their respective office compounds and adjacent state properties.

Special Appeal to Citizens: The District Collector and the Superintendent of Police jointly appealed to the residents of Karauli, local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and youth groups to actively place parindas on their balconies, rooftops, courtyards, and nearby public parks.

Emphasis on Regular Maintenance: Officials heavily stressed that simply hanging the earthen pots is insufficient. Given the extreme heat, it is vital that these pots are cleaned and refilled with fresh water daily to ensure no bird loses its life due to dehydration.

The launch event saw active participation from various district-level departmental officers and subordinate staff, all of whom pledged to carry this humanitarian initiative forward within their respective jurisdictions.
