Karauli: The intense heatwave and soaring temperatures across Rajasthan have disrupted normal life, prompting authorities to take proactive safety measures. In response to the Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast predicting a further rise in temperature and severe heatwave conditions, the Karauli district administration has stepped in to protect young children.

District Collector and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Akshay Godara, has declared a 15-day summer holiday for children across all operational Anganwadi centers in the district. This emergency order will remain in effect from May 22, 2026, to June 5, 2026. The Collector exercised the emergency powers vested under Section 30 (Chapter 4) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, following a formal proposal from the Deputy Director of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Karauli.

Relief Only for Young Children; Staff to Remain on Duty

According to the official guidelines, this proactive closure applies strictly to children aged 3 to 6 years. Anganwadi workers and helpers are not exempt from duty; they will continue to attend the centers as usual to manage administrative tasks, community tracking, and other departmental responsibilities.

Nutrition Uninterrupted: Rations to be Delivered to Homes (THR)

To ensure that the health and nutritional needs of the children do not suffer during this 15-day break, the administration has modified the food distribution system. The Hot Cooked Meals (HCM) and morning snacks usually served at the centers will be suspended. Instead, the nutritional provisions will be distributed directly to the children’s homes as Take-Home Ration (THR), ensuring their dietary cycle remains uninterrupted.

Strict Legal Action Against Violations

Collector Akshay Godara has issued a stern warning regarding compliance. The official order states that any officer or employee found violating or disregarding these guidelines will face strict legal and disciplinary action under the punitive provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

The timely decision aims to shield vulnerable toddlers from the risks of heatstroke and dehydration during peak summer hours.

A district-level public hearing (Jansunwai) and Vigilance Committee meeting was held at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector Akshay Godara.

Taking a tough stand against negligence in resolving public grievances on the Rajasthan Sampark Portal, the District Collector ordered show-cause notices to be served to two senior block-level officials.

Accountability First: Action Against Errant Officials

District Collector Akshay Godara cracked down on negligence regarding the resolution of long-pending complaints. The officials who received show-cause notices for failing to address grievances on the Sampark Portal include:

Lakhan Lal Meena (Chief Block Education Officer – CBEO, Sapotra)

Brijlal Bairwa (Block Development Officer – BDO, Sapotra)

7-Day Deadline to Clear Long-Pending Grievances

Addressing the district and block-level officers, the Collector emphasized that citizens should not be forced to make unnecessary visits to government offices. He issued the following strict directives:

Strict Timeline: Grievances pending on the Rajasthan Sampark Portal for 90 to 180 days, as well as cases forwarded by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Divisional Office, and the Human Rights Commission, must be resolved within 7 days.

Focus on Quality Redressal: Officers were directed to improve the actual satisfaction level of the complainants rather than just disposing of files on paper.

Focus Departments: Officials from JVVNL (Electricity), PHED (Water Supply), DSO (Civil Supplies), and the Social Justice & Empowerment Department were specifically told to reduce their average response time and improve public satisfaction.

60 Grievances Received; Immediate Relief Rendered

A total of 60 public grievances related to various departments were registered during the public hearing. The complaints covered a wide range of issues, including encroachment removal, National Food Security Act (NFSA) enrollment, farm pond subsidies, bridge construction, road widening, drinking water supply, and pending municipal bills.

With Superintendent of Police (SP) Lokesh Sonwal present, Collector Godara reviewed the cases dynamically, providing immediate relief to several aggrieved citizens on the spot.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Collector Hemraj Paridwal, Chief Executive Officer Lakhan Singh, and other district-level heads, while block-level officers joined the session via video conferencing (VC).
