Jaipur | May 17, 2026

In a decisive move to combat depleting groundwater levels and fortify long-term water security for future generations, the Government of Rajasthan has rolled out a comprehensive environmental action plan. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma finalized the structural blueprint of the ‘Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign’ during a high-level administrative review at the Chief Minister’s Residence on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

The Chief Minister issued strict directives ensuring that the campaign must transcend conventional bureaucratic limits or departmental routines. Instead, it must be localized across every village, leveraging active community participation to transform the initiative into a powerful, citizen-led public movement.

A Cascade of Initiatives from Ganga Dashami to World Environment Day

This statewide ecological campaign is scheduled to run for 12 days, commencing on May 25, 2026 (Ganga Dashami) and concluding on June 5, 2026 (World Environment Day). The specialized timeline will feature a series of strategic and social programs executed from urban municipal corporations down to remote gram panchayats:

Restoration of Heritage Water Resources: Intense desiltation and cleanup drives will be executed across the state’s historical stepwells (Baoris), community wells, and traditional village ponds to restore their original water-retention capacities.

Water Rituals and Perimeter Afforestation: Bridging cultural values with ecological conservation, the campaign will begin with traditional community reverence ceremonies at local water bodies. Concurrently, extensive tree plantation drives will be conducted along the banks (Pals) and catchments of these reservoirs to stabilize local aquifers.

The Message of ‘Plant Trees—Save Lives’: The Chief Minister directed that this slogan be widely popularized as the core message of the campaign to spark widespread public consciousness regarding environmental preservation.

Urban Water Management: Mandatory Push for Rainwater Harvesting

Emphasizing the absolute necessity of groundwater recharge, Chief Minister Sharma instructed urban development authorities to strictly enforce and expand Rainwater Harvesting Systems across modern residential sectors, commercial complexes, and government buildings. This targeted mandate aims to capture maximum monsoon runoffs, directing surface water back into the water table rather than allowing it to go to waste through urban drainage.

Additionally, the high-level committee reviewed digital progress presentations on ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 2.0’ and the ‘Karmabhoomi Se Matrabhoomi’ campaign. The Chief Minister ordered absolute inter-departmental synergy among the Public Works Department (PWD), Panchayati Raj, Department of Forest, and the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) to guarantee smooth execution.

The strategic review session was attended by Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, along with Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and senior administrative directors from all allied portfolios.

Jaipur | May 17, 2026

The Government of Rajasthan has fully mobilized its administrative machinery to ensure a seamless, reliable, and uninterrupted water supply across rural territories during the peak summer season. Following explicit directives from Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) successfully executed the fourth phase of its state-level special oversight and rapid-repair campaign on Saturday.

Initiated to establish a highly responsive and resilient rural water management framework, this specialized weekly campaign will continue to operate every Saturday until June 30, 2026. Its primary mandate is to protect rural households from seasonal water scarcities and maintain strict supply stability.

On-the-Ground Rapid Repairs and Structural Interventions

According to validated data released by departmental secretaries, technical and engineering teams executed extensive, high-impact structural interventions during Saturday’s statewide drive:

Field Inspections by 575 Vigilance Squads: To conduct on-the-spot physical verifications of water infrastructure and identify systemic bottlenecks, 575 specialized task forces were deployed across various village panchayats.

Restoration of Handpumps: Recognizing the critical role of groundwater sources during peak summer weeks, engineering teams successfully repaired and reactivated 662 non-functional and defective handpumps, restoring vital local water points.

Pipeline Reinforcement and Leakage Control: To prevent water wastage and preserve distribution pressure across terminal pipeline networks, technical teams permanently plugged and repaired 475 critical pipeline leakages.

Comprehensive Infrastructure Maintenance: Beyond primary repairs, teams completed 1,598 auxiliary technical improvement works on rural water distribution systems within record timeframes.

Immediate On-Site Resolution of 2,687 Public Grievances

The defining attribute of this targeted campaign remains its swift, citizen-centric grievance redressal mechanism. Operating with high structural coordination, the field technical teams evaluated and immediately resolved 2,687 localized complaints on-site, addressing issues ranging from low pressure and valve malfunctions to localized supply disruptions. This rapid administrative response has fostered a strong sense of public satisfaction across rural communities.

This synchronized campaign highlights a proactive, action-oriented governance model within the state administration. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the state government continues to prioritize rural civic infrastructure—particularly sustainable water supply management—positioning it as a core pillar of long-term regional development.

Disclaimer: This rural infrastructure and public utility report is compiled directly from verified progress ledgers, administrative field statements, and statistical briefs published by the Department of Public Health Engineering (PHED), Government of Rajasthan, on May 17, 2026. Project schedules, district-wise operational nodal structures, and final technical data remain subject to subsequent departmental audits. For authorized procedures on lodging water infrastructure complaints within specific gram panchayats, citizens should consult the official state helpline (181) or the authorized digital portal of PHED Rajasthan.

Marking the occasion, the Chief Minister also officially unveiled the commemorative poster for the upcoming state-level celebration honoring the 301st birth anniversary of Punyashlok Ahilya Bai Holkar, a historical symbol of women’s empowerment and visionary governance.

Bridging a Glorious Heritage with Modern Agricultural Excellence

He specifically invoked the historic Battle of Khanwa, recalling the indomitable courage and unwavering allegiance displayed by Veer Singh Baghel alongside Rana Sanga against foreign invaders.

The Chief Minister urged the youth and farmers of the community to preserve their hereditary agricultural and animal husbandry roots while actively adopting modern scientific techniques.
The Chief Minister’s Message to the Youth: “Today, driven by access to quality education, our nomadic communities are breaking barriers and carving a niche for themselves in administrative services, politics, the armed forces, information technology, and corporate sectors. While climbing new heights, the youth must stay anchored in the values of their ancestors and stay entirely clear of substance abuse. Focus your energies on higher education and nation-building; our administration stands fully prepared to extend every possible resource to support your ambitions.”

Jaipur | May 17, 2026

In an aggressive push to fortify the state’s financial framework for comprehensive regional development and the seamless execution of public welfare initiatives, the Government of Rajasthan has intensified its revenue collection protocols. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma evaluated the performance indicators of various revenue-generating departments during a high-level review meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Residence on Sunday, May 17, 2026. During the session, the Chief Minister made it clear that a stringent ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy will be enforced against tax evasion and revenue leakages, ordering punitive legal action against willful defaulters.

To ensure that the state safely hits its assigned revenue collection benchmarks for the Fiscal Year 2026-27, the Chief Minister directed all administrative wings to establish seamless inter-departmental coordination, formulate realistic action plans, and aggressively deploy modern data technologies and innovations.

Strict Operational Directives Issued to Primary Revenue Departments

To accelerate collection machinery and clear long-pending fiscal litigations, the Chief Minister assigned specific operational mandates to key departments:

Commercial Taxes Department: Ordered an immediate, rigorous review of all pending audit files. The department must develop advanced risk-assessment parameters and modern scrutiny matrices to identify, flag, and suppress tax evasion patterns at the primary transaction stage.

Mines & Petroleum Department: Instructed to enforce zero-tolerance parameters against illegal mining operations and the unauthorized transport of minerals. To bring absolute transparency to logistics tracking, the department was told to accelerate the installation of GPS tracking hardware across all mining transport fleets and initiate time-bound public auctions for defunct or closed mines to unlock dormant revenue.

Transport and Excise Departments: The Transport Department has been tasked with launching aggressive, targeted recovery drives to clear outstanding motor vehicle tax arrears from chronic defaulters. Concurrently, the Excise Department was directed to expedite the collection of historical revenue dues and optimize its intelligence network by incentivizing informants to curb the smuggling of illicit liquor.

Registration & Stamps and Revenue Departments: Directed to heavily promote and simplify the online e-registration framework to systematically reduce the backlog of pending property and land cases across DIG (Deputy Inspector General) offices. Furthermore, the Revenue Department must ensure strict, non-negotiable legal action against illegal land encroachments.

To ensure strict administrative compliance, the Chief Minister officially authorized the Chief Minister’s Office and the Chief Secretary to maintain continuous oversight and active monthly monitoring of all department-wise revenue collection metrics.

State Registers a Robust 15.71% Growth in April Revenue Collections

According to validated financial ledgers presented by senior administrative secretaries during the review conference, the opening month of the current fiscal year has yielded exceptionally encouraging data for Rajasthan. The state generated a total revenue of ₹11,235 crore in April 2026 alone. This collection metric marks a significant 15.71% growth rate when compared dynamically against the revenue numbers recorded during the identical fiscal window in April 2025.

Key Administrative Attendees: The high-level review conclave was attended by Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, Additional Chief Secretary (to CM) Alok Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (Mines & Petroleum) Aparna Arora, Principal Secretary (Finance) Vaibhav Galriya, and Principal Secretary (Revenue) T. Ravikant, alongside commissioners and secretaries representing the state’s commercial tax, excise, transport, and registration departments.

In a move to ensure administrative accountability, Mrs. Shuchi Tyagi, Secretary of Tourism, Art, Literature, Culture, and Archaeology, conducted a surprise inspection of the ‘Rajasthan Sampark Helpline (181)’ Control Room at the Government Secretariat on Thursday. Following the directives of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the Secretary reviewed departmental cases and personally engaged with complainants to resolve their issues.

Emphasis on Sensitivity and Accountability

During the inspection, the Secretary issued strict instructions to officials, emphasizing that the disposal of complaints registered on the Sampark Portal must be qualitative and time-bound, rather than merely procedural. She stated that providing immediate relief to complainants is the top priority of the administration, and no negligence or delay will be tolerated.

Departments Under Review:

The review meeting focused on grievances pertaining to the following departments and authorities:

Department of Tourism and Devasthan Department

Department of Art, Literature, Culture, and Archaeology

Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC)

Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK)

Amer Development and Management Authority (ADMA)

Direct Interaction and Immediate Solutions

Secretary Tyagi personally spoke with six complainants over the phone to understand their grievances. Residents of Jaipur, Mahesh Agarwal and Puran Singh, raised concerns regarding the rejection of their applications for the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme. In response, Mrs. Tyagi directed Devasthan Department officials to proactively contact both individuals as soon as the next application cycle begins.

Statistical Report: Grievance Redressal Status

According to data from the Sampark Portal, the disposal rate for the concerned departments has been highly effective:

Department/Organization

Total Registered Cases

Resolved Cases

Devasthan Department

2,250

2,117

Tourism Department

299

287

RTDC

59

59 (100%)

Jawahar Kala Kendra

38

38 (100%)

Amer Development Authority

06

06 (100%)

Impact of the Chief Minister’s Initiative

To make the administration more transparent and accessible, departmental secretaries are now personally visiting the 181 Control Room on scheduled dates to interact directly with the public. This digital initiative allows citizens of Rajasthan to receive resolutions to their problems from the comfort of their homes.
