JAIPUR: In a decisive move to ensure absolute accountability and transparency within the state’s bureaucratic machinery, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has taken stringent action against negligent and undisciplined government officials. On Wednesday, the Chief Minister cleared a backlog by disposing of 19 long-pending departmental inquiry cases. Sending a strong message against dereliction of duty, the state government has ordered the immediate stoppage of annual increments for serving officers and proportional pension cuts for retired personnel found guilty.

Key Highlights of this News:

Massive Crackdown: CM Bhajanlal Sharma resolves 19 pending departmental inquiry cases to enforce a zero-tolerance policy on administrative negligence.

Increments Halted: Annual salary increments of four serving state officers have been stopped after charges were proven under CCA rules.

Pension Deductions: The proportional pensions of eight retired officials have been permanently withheld across seven separate cases.

Relief for the Innocent: Five officers, including one IFS official, have been honorably exonerated and granted relief due to unproven charges.

Zero Tolerance: Action Against Serving and Retired Officials

Demonstrating a no-compromise stance on administrative lethargy, the state government wielded the axe on both current and former bureaucrats. According to official reports, the Chief Minister approved strict punitive measures against four serving state service officers. Following the complete substantiation of charges under Rule 16 of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1958, their annual salary increments have been officially blocked.

The government’s crackdown was not limited to current employees. The Chief Minister also sanctioned proposals to halt the proportional pensions of eight retired officers who were found guilty during seven separate investigations conducted under the stringent Rule 16 CCA.

Verdicts on Review Petitions

The Chief Minister also delivered clear and final verdicts on several review petitions filed by officers challenging previous disciplinary actions. After a meticulous evaluation of the facts and records, the initial punishment in four cases was deemed entirely appropriate and upheld without any modifications. However, in one specific case, the penalty was slightly modified and limited based on the factual merits of the appeal.

Justice Ensured: Five Officers Exonerated

While the government remained firm on punishing the guilty, it also ensured that justice was served to those wrongfully accused. CM Sharma granted major relief to an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer by terminating the ongoing disciplinary proceedings right at the preliminary written submission stage. Furthermore, four other administrative officers involved in two separate cases were honorably exonerated and given a clean chit, as the allegations leveled against them could not be conclusively proven with adequate evidence.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, these firm, timely, and impartial decisions are expected to establish greater accountability, boost efficiency, and bring complete transparency to the daily operations of government departments.
