An undercover investigation by Dainik Bhaskar has caused a massive uproar in Uttar Pradesh politics. The sting operation claims that assembly election tickets for the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are being sold for crores of rupees. According to the report, a demand of ₹5 lakh was made just to arrange a meeting with party supremo Mayawati, and ₹3.35 crore in cash was demanded for an MLA ticket.

As the matter quickly went viral on social media, BSP President Mayawati came forward to strongly refute the allegations, terming the entire episode a conspiracy hatched by the opposition and a section of the media.

Bhaskar Investigation: Key Revelations of the Sting Operation

The undercover reporter posed as a political aspirant seeking a ticket from the BKT (Bakshi Ka Talab) assembly constituency in Lucknow. During the negotiations with senior BSP leaders, the following details emerged:

The ‘Meeting Fee’: BSP’s Lucknow District President Shailendra Gautam and UP State President Vishwanath Pal explicitly stated that an aspirant must bring ₹5 lakh in cash to meet ‘Behenji’ (Mayawati) as a candidate. This money is to be placed directly on her table in a blank envelope, with no receipts or accounts maintained for it.

Ticket Rate: A sum of ₹3.35 crore was demanded for the BKT seat. The leaders revealed that the rate varies depending on the constituency.

Mode of Transaction: The entire amount must be paid in cash. It can be deposited as a lump sum or in installments (e.g., ₹20 lakh, ₹50 lakh) within a timeframe of one to one-and-a-half months.

Lure of a Ministerial Berth: State President Vishwanath Pal assured the undercover reporter a “100% guarantee” of becoming a minister if the party formed the government.

Fee for a General Meeting: If someone does not want a ticket but simply wishes to meet Mayawati for her “blessings,” a separate fee of ₹2 lakh is allegedly charged.

Leaders Caught on Camera (As per the Report)

1. Shailendra Gautam (Lucknow District President): He explained the entire ticket purchasing process, stating that once the money is deposited, the candidate’s name is announced amid a crowd of 10,000 to 15,000 people. He made it clear that the party prioritizes a candidate’s financial capacity to deposit the funds over their political background.

2. Vishwanath Pal (UP State President): The State President finalized the deal in his private office. He pressured the reporter to arrange the cash quickly (within a month or so) as the elections are approaching. He even offered to make a phone call right then and there to schedule an immediate meeting with Mayawati.

Mayawati’s Counterattack: “It is Part of Candidate Screening”

Following the viral spread of the sting operation, BSP Supremo Mayawati took to social media (X/Twitter) to present her side, dismissing the report as entirely misleading. The key points of her statement are:

“The BSP is an honest, Ambedkarite party that runs on the physical, mental, and financial support of its own people, not on the backing of big capitalists or billionaires.”

Opposition is Rattled: She stated that as elections approach, capitalist and casteist forces resort to various gimmicks to defame the BSP and its “Iron Lady” leadership.

Tough Questions Misconstrued: Mayawati clarified that the State President (Vishwanath Pal) and other office-bearers were conducting solid screening of ticket seekers. To gauge a candidate’s social, political, and financial standing, as well as their loyalty and durability, the leaders ask tough, probing questions—much like a cross-examination in a courtroom. She argued that interpreting this grilling as “selling tickets” at face value is utterly wrong.

Appeal to Workers: She urged her party members not to fall prey to these sponsored rumors and to remain fully dedicated to their preparations for Mission 2027 (the UP Assembly Elections).

— Mayawati (@Mayawati) June 19, 2026

BSP’s Current Political Equation

Founded on April 14, 1984, by Kanshi Ram, the BSP was once at the pinnacle of power in Uttar Pradesh, but its political graph has seen a decline in recent years.

2022 UP Assembly Elections: The party secured a 12.9% vote share but managed to win only 1 seat.

Current Strategy: According to the report, anticipating early assembly elections, the party is strategizing to field Brahmin candidates on 40 to 50 seats.

Conclusion: This undercover investigation has reignited the debate over the commercialization of political tickets in UP. While the report visually depicts leaders demanding crores on camera, Mayawati is actively engaged in damage control, framing the captured conversations as merely a rigorous method to assess a candidate’s true capabilities.

Uttar Pradesh: In a stern move against indiscipline and anti-party activities, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) initiated a major disciplinary crackdown in Western Uttar Pradesh on June 12, 2026. According to official press releases issued by the district presidents of Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, and Gautam Buddha Nagar, several key office bearers and former candidates have been expelled from the party with immediate effect.

Here is the detailed breakdown of the disciplinary actions taken across different districts:

Two Senior Leaders Expelled from Ghaziabad

Based on a press release issued by Manoj Kumar Jatav, the BSP District President of Ghaziabad, two prominent local figures have been removed from the party roster:

P.N. Garg: A former BSP candidate and resident of Bhaunja village in the Ghaziabad district.

Ravi Jatav: The former BSP in-charge for the Meerut division. He is a resident of Morta village, which falls under the Muradnagar assembly constituency.

Former Assembly Candidate Faces the Axe in Bulandshahr

The party leadership took a similarly tough stance in the Bulandshahr district. According to an official letter released by District President Ravindra Pradhan on June 12:

Haji Imran: A former BSP candidate who contested from the Sikandrabad assembly constituency has been expelled. He is a local resident of Sikandrabad.

Former Lok Sabha Candidate Expelled from Gautam Buddha Nagar

The Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida) unit also took strict action against a heavyweight leader on the same day. As per the press release issued by District President Lakhmi Singh:

Satveer Nagar: A resident of Greater Noida and a former BSP candidate for the Lok Sabha elections, has been expelled from the party’s primary membership.

The Primary Reason: ‘No Improvement Despite Repeated Warnings’

The party has cited a common reason for the expulsion of all these leaders: their deep involvement in anti-party activities and gross indiscipline.

The official press releases from all three district offices explicitly mentioned that these leaders were issued multiple warnings in the past to rectify their working styles and behavior. However, when they failed to show any signs of improvement, the Bahujan Samaj Party was compelled to make this tough decision to safeguard the “interests of the party and the movement.”

A series of disciplinary actions by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) across multiple districts in Uttar Pradesh has sparked significant political discussion, along with strong reactions on social media platform X.

In official press releases issued between April 23 and April 25, 2026, BSP district units from Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, and Saharanpur announced the expulsion of several leaders, citing anti-party activities and indiscipline.

What Happened?

Ghaziabad Case

In a press note dated April 24, 2026, BSP’s Ghaziabad unit expelled Jayprakash Singh.
According to the party, he had previously been removed but was allowed to return after apologizing. However, his conduct reportedly did not improve, and he continued to engage in activities seen as against party interests. This ultimately led to his removal once again.

Bulandshahr Case

On April 25, 2026, BSP’s Bulandshahr unit took action against former MLC Dharamveer Singh Ashok.
The party stated that he was repeatedly involved in anti-party activities and failed to follow organizational discipline despite multiple warnings. His expulsion was described as necessary for protecting party interests.

Saharanpur Case

Earlier, on April 23, 2026, BSP’s Saharanpur district unit expelled Haji Sarfaraz Rain, who held a zonal-level responsibility.
The official statement said he had been consistently involved in activities that went against the party line and ignored repeated warnings.

Reactions on Social Media

Following these developments, users on X shared varied and strong opinions.

X User Jeetu Rajoriya

One user claimed that after Jayprakash Singh’s expulsion, his “mentor” Dharamveer Singh Ashok was also removed.
He further alleged that there had been dissatisfaction among party workers in Gujarat regarding their functioning and expressed happiness over the recent action. He also hinted that more expulsions could follow.

— Jitu Rajoriya (@jitu_rajoriya) April 25, 2026

X User Sony Madhukar

Another user stated that a former national-level leader and ex-MLC had been expelled, and mentioned a circulating list allegedly containing around 20 names.
The user also suggested that leadership within the party appears to be increasingly concentrated.

pic.twitter.com/1OZGux0KSW
— Soni Madhukar (@MadhukarS1988) April 25, 2026

X User Ravi Arya

A detailed post by another user highlighted Jayprakash Singh’s past importance in the party, claiming he once held a very senior position.
The post suggested he was given multiple opportunities, including significant responsibilities, but failed to meet expectations.
Interestingly, despite criticism, the user expressed hope that he might return to the party before upcoming elections.

— Ravi Arya (@raviadi7793) April 24, 2026

What Does This Indicate?

These developments point to some broader trends:

BSP appears to be taking a strict stand on discipline

Even senior leaders are not exempt from action

Internal issues are increasingly becoming public discussions

Supporters themselves are divided in opinion on these decisions

Conclusion

The recent actions suggest that the Bahujan Samaj Party is prioritizing organizational discipline and control. At the same time, reactions on X show that such decisions are being closely watched and debated by supporters and observers alike.

Whether this wave of expulsions continues or stabilizes in the coming days remains to be seen, but it has certainly added a new layer of discussion around BSP’s internal dynamics.
