In a major step toward making Rajasthan’s healthcare sector completely digital, transparent, and paperless, the state government has selected one government and one private healthcare institution in every district under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). These selected hospitals will be developed as ‘Model Facilities’ to provide state-of-the-art digital health services to patients.

An Ayushman Digital Mission-compliant framework and Health Management Information System (HMIS) will be fully implemented across these institutions. To provide technical training and detailed insights to representatives of both government and private hospitals, the Department of Medical and Health organized a state-level workshop at the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare (SIHFW) on Wednesday.

What is the ‘Model Facility Initiative’ and Its Objectives?

The primary objective of this digital initiative is to integrate the state’s healthcare services onto a single, unified platform. The hospitals chosen as model facilities will receive special technical support from the government to help them transition into end-to-end digital establishments.

Mandatory Procedures for Hospitals:

• ABDM Portal Registration: All selected government and private hospitals must register on the official ABDM portal to generate their unique ABDM ID.
• Healthcare Registry Enrollment: It will be mandatory for all medical institutions to register in the Healthcare Facility Registry (HFR), and for their doctors and paramedical staff to register in the Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR).

Direct Benefits for Patients

Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Jogaram, Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM), highlighted that the implementation of this system would save significant time for both patients and doctors.

• Medical Records at a Single Click: An ‘ABHA ID’ (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) will be created for all patients visiting these hospitals. Following this, all medical records, diagnostic reports, and prescriptions will be linked online. Doctors will be able to access a patient’s complete medical history with just one click.
• End of Long Queues with ‘Scan & Share’: To manage and reduce crowds at OPD counters, a QR code-based ‘Scan & Share’ token system will be implemented in these hospitals, eliminating the need for patients to wait for hours to get an OPD slip.

During the workshop, Mr. Harji Lal Atal, CEO of the Rajasthan State Health Assurance Agency, and Mr. Santosh Goyal, OSD NHM, shared vital administrative operational guidelines. Mr. Pankaj Arora, Director of the National Health Authority (NHA), joined the session via video conferencing. Additionally, Mr. Vishnukant, State Node Officer (IT), and Mrs. Pinky Boolchandani, Program Manager of the State ABDM Team, delivered a detailed digital presentation to resolve the technical queries of the model hospital representatives.
