Religious Figure Known Across Several States

Pawan Dev Maharaj is a resident of Malethu Kanak village under Bikapur Kotwali in Ayodhya district. Over the years, he has gained recognition through religious discourses and spiritual storytelling events conducted in different parts of the country.

He is known for presenting himself as a disciple of renowned Hindu preacher Devkinandan Thakur. Apart from his religious activities, Pawan Dev was appointed National Spokesperson of the Karni Sena on May 13 this year, increasing his public visibility on social and religious issues.

His father, Pandit Ramakant Shastri, is reportedly associated with traditional religious rituals and ceremonies.

Woman Claims Relationship Began During a Religious Event

According to the complaint, the woman is a resident of Siwan district in Bihar. She is married and has two children.

The complainant alleged that she first met Pawan Dev Maharaj in 2023 during a religious discourse organized in the Champaran region of Bihar. Following the event, communication between the two allegedly continued and gradually became more frequent.

The woman stated that over time their interactions developed into a close relationship.

Alleged Incident During Visit to Ayodhya

In her complaint, the woman claimed that in July 2025, Pawan Dev Maharaj invited her to Ayodhya, promising VIP access for darshan at the Ram Temple.

She alleged that she traveled to Ayodhya along with her son and stayed at the preacher’s residence. During that visit, she accused him of sexually assaulting her.

According to the complaint, when she objected, he allegedly assured her that he would marry her, which influenced her decision not to approach the police immediately.

Claim of Marriage and Subsequent Dispute

The woman further alleged that on August 17, 2025, the two underwent a marriage ceremony at a temple in the Naka Hanumangarhi area of Ayodhya.

She claimed that after the ceremony she lived at his residence and later became pregnant. However, she alleged that she was eventually sent back to her parental home.

The complainant stated that whenever she raised objections regarding the situation, she was allegedly threatened with legal consequences and other forms of pressure.

Jewelry Worth Lakhs Allegedly Retained

Another major allegation in the complaint concerns jewelry and valuables.

The woman claimed she had brought expensive ornaments received from both her parental family and marital family when she came to Ayodhya. According to her, most of those valuables remained in the possession of the preacher when she returned.

She has estimated the value of the missing jewelry and belongings at around ₹10 lakh.

Allegations Against Father Also Included

The complaint also names Pawan Dev Maharaj’s father, Ramakant Shastri.

The woman alleged that both men later visited her residence, where an argument took place. During the dispute, she claimed she was assaulted and threatened with serious consequences.

Police Register Case

Based on the woman’s complaint, Bikapur Kotwali police have registered a case and begun an inquiry.

Police officials stated that all allegations are being examined. Investigators will review available evidence, documents, and statements from both sides before deciding on further legal action.
