PSL 2026 Update : Just days before the start of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026, Australia’s government has issued a travel advisory to its players participating in the tournament. The advisory specifically warns them against traveling to Peshawar, categorizing it as a “Do Not Travel” zone due to rising security concerns.

Tensions Near Afghanistan Border Behind the Alert

Peshawar’s proximity to the Afghanistan border has become a major factor in the warning. Ongoing tensions and conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan have heightened risks in the region, prompting authorities in Australia to take precautionary steps for their citizens.

Potential Impact on Key Fixture

The advisory could affect the March 28 match between Peshawar Zalmi and Rawalpindi, as both squads include Australian players. Aaron Hardie is part of Peshawar’s lineup, while Jake Fraser-McGurk is expected to feature for Rawalpindi. Any escalation in the situation may disrupt team plans or match arrangements.

Contingency Plans in Place

According to reports from Australian media, players have been informed that evacuation via private flights could be arranged if the situation deteriorates. This indicates that while participation continues for now, contingency measures are being actively considered.

PCB Maintains Confidence in Tournament Security

Despite the concerns, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has assured that all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure player safety. Officials have stated that no Australian player has withdrawn from the tournament so far and all are expected to be available for PSL 2026.

Strong Australian Presence in PSL 2026

This season features a notable group of Australian cricketers, including Steve Smith, David Warner, Adam Zampa, Peter Siddle, Aaron Hardie, Marnus Labuschagne, Ashton Turner, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Josh Philippe, Riley Meredith, and Ben McDermott. Labuschagne is set to captain the newly introduced Hyderabad Kingsmen, marking his debut in the league.

In the coaching department, former Australian players Tim Paine and Jason Gillespie are also involved.

Afghan Players Withdraw from the League

Meanwhile, several Afghan players have pulled out of PSL 2026. Prominent names such as Rashid Khan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Fazalhaq Farooqi decided to withdraw citing concerns over the ongoing conflict and reported actions by Pakistan in Afghan regions.
