A major step towards strengthening Rajasthan’s artificial intelligence ecosystem was taken on Thursday as Rajasthan Centre of Advanced Technology (R-CAT) hosted the ‘Build with AI’ workshop in collaboration with Google India in Jaipur. The initiative focused on nurturing the next generation of AI developers, innovators, startups, and technology professionals in the state.

Addressing the workshop, Dr. Ravi Kumar Surpur said the Rajasthan Government is committed to providing world-class technology platforms to youth and startups. He stated that under the guidance of Bhajan Lal Sharma, the state is continuously working to position Rajasthan among India’s emerging leaders in artificial intelligence and digital innovation.

He emphasized that along with developing new AI tools, there is also a need to optimize existing citizen-centric government applications through AI integration. According to him, the use of artificial intelligence can improve public service delivery and help implement welfare schemes more efficiently and transparently.

More Than 100 Participants Joined the Workshop

The hands-on technical workshop witnessed participation from over 100 startup founders, developers, students, innovators, corporate leaders, and government officials. Participants received advanced training on Google’s AI developer platforms, Gemini AI capabilities, APIs, cloud technologies, and modern AI tools.

The workshop also provided insights into developing AI-powered applications, integrating AI into digital products, automating workflows, and building scalable technology solutions using Google’s AI ecosystem.

Focus on Innovation and Skill Development

Representatives from Google India appreciated the enthusiasm, technical curiosity, and innovation potential demonstrated by Rajasthan’s young developers and startup community. The event also served as a collaborative platform connecting startups, educational institutions, MSMEs, developers, and government stakeholders.

Officials believe such initiatives will play a key role in promoting AI skill development, innovation partnerships, and future-ready digital opportunities for Rajasthan’s youth.

The workshop is being viewed as an important step under the Rajasthan AI/ML Policy 2026 aimed at building a strong AI innovation ecosystem and establishing Rajasthan as a leading state in artificial intelligence, digital talent development, and next-generation technology innovation.

In a powerful display of market dominance, Google’s parent company, Alphabet, has kicked off 2026 with a “terrific start.” Driven by an unprecedented surge in demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud computing, the California-based giant reported a staggering 81% year-on-year (YoY) jump in net profit for the first quarter.

CEO Sundar Pichai signaled that this is only the beginning, as the company prepares to significantly increase its capital expenditure to maintain its lead in the global AI arms race.

Financial Highlights: A Quarter of Double-Digit Growth

Alphabet’s Q1 results outperformed market expectations across nearly every metric:

Net Profit: Surged to $62.6 billion, compared to $34.5 billion in the same period last year.

Revenue: Rose by 22% to $109.9 billion, marking Alphabet’s 11th consecutive quarter of double-digit revenue growth.

Google Cloud: The division reached a historic milestone with revenue rising 63% YoY to $20 billion. Cloud now accounts for roughly one-third of the size of Google Search.

AI: The New Primary Growth Driver

For the first time in the company’s history, enterprise AI solutions have surpassed traditional cloud services as the primary growth driver for Google Cloud.

Sundar Pichai noted that while growth was exceptional, it was actually capped by hardware limitations.

“We are compute-constrained in the near term,” Pichai explained. “Our cloud revenue would have been even higher if we were able to meet the total demand. We are working through that moment, and we are investing heavily.”

The Gemini ecosystem is also showing rapid adoption. Paid monthly active users for Gemini Enterprise grew by 40% quarter-on-quarter, proving that businesses are willing to pay for high-level generative AI capabilities.

Read my full remarks: https://t.co/nsppMabbGI
— Sundar Pichai (@sundarpichai) April 29, 2026

The $190 Billion Bet on Infrastructure

To address the supply shortage and scale its AI capabilities, Alphabet has revised its 2026 capital expenditure (capex) guidance upward. The company now expects to spend between $180 billion and $190 billion this year, up from previous estimates.

Where is the money going?

Alphabet’s CFO, Anat Ashkenazi, detailed the allocation of these massive investments:

60% on Servers: Primarily high-performance AI processors.

40% on Data Centers: Expanding the physical footprint and networking equipment required to host AI workloads.

Proprietary Hardware: Google is rolling out its 8th generation TPUs (Tensor Processing Units). In a strategic shift, Google will now offer these custom chips to select customers for use in their own data centers, directly competing with NVIDIA and AMD.

Search and YouTube: The Core Remains Strong

While AI and Cloud are the “growth engines,” Google’s advertising business remains the company’s financial bedrock.

Google Search: Revenue increased 19% to $60.4 billion, with AI Overviews actually driving higher search usage and query volumes.

YouTube: Ad sales climbed 11% to $9.9 billion, maintaining its position as a dominant force in digital video.

In contrast, “Other Bets”—which includes the Waymo autonomous taxi service—continued to operate at a loss of $2.1 billion, highlighting the long-term, high-risk nature of Google’s moonshot projects.

Conclusion: A Conviction to Invest

Despite ongoing debates regarding an “AI bubble,” Alphabet’s results reinforce the company’s conviction. With a Google Cloud backlog that nearly doubled to $462 billion, the demand for AI infrastructure is tangible and massive.

As Alphabet prepares for a significant increase in spending through 2027, the message is clear: the company is no longer just a search engine; it is the foundational platform for the AI-driven economy.
