Chaos at Dawn: Fire Erupts at 4 AM

According to Delhi Police and fire department officials, a distress call was received at approximately 4:00 AM regarding a fire in a building in Vivek Vihar. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Shahdara, Rajendra Prasad Meena, confirmed that 12 fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the site.

While the fire was eventually brought under control, the intensity of the flames on the second, third, and fourth floors proved fatal for many occupants who were asleep when the tragedy struck.

Rescue Operations and Casualty Details

The rescue operation, supported by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and local police, managed to evacuate 12 to 15 people from the burning building. However, the toll remained high.

While local residents attribute the disaster to an AC explosion followed by a short circuit, authorities are maintaining a cautious stance. “People are pointing toward a short circuit or an AC blast, but the exact cause remains under investigation,” said Councillor Luthra. Search operations are still underway as 4 to 5 people are reportedly still missing.
