Para Archery Championship: India’s Sheetal Devi continued her impressive performance at the Para Archery World Championships in Gwangju on September 27, defeating top-ranked Oznur Cure Girdi of Turkey 146-143 to win the gold medal in the women’s compound individual event.
This was Sheetal’s third medal at the competition. Previously, she and fellow archer Toman Kumar won the bronze medal in the mixed team event, defeating Great Britain’s pair of Grinham and Nathan McQueen 152-149. Sheetal and Sarita also won the silver medal in the compound women’s open team event after losing to Turkiye.
In the semi-finals, Jammu and Kashmir’s Sheetal demonstrated her strength by defeating Great Britain’s Grinham pair 145-140. This was a rematch of the 2023 Pilsen World Championships, where Girdi narrowly defeated Sheetal 140-138. This time Sheetal improved her performance and won the gold medal by defeating Girdi.
