JAIPUR: Rajasthan’s efforts to enhance the quality of school education and improve student health have now received major national recognition. In its latest report, ‘School Education System in India – Temporal Analysis and Policy Roadmap for Quality Enhancement’, NITI Aayog has lauded the educational innovations adopted by Rajasthan, categorizing them as ‘Good State Practices’.

Rajasthan’s Model for Health and Nutrition

NITI Aayog has specifically praised Rajasthan’s ‘Shala Swasthya Parikshan Abhiyan’ (School Health Screening Campaign). Through this technology-driven model, the state has screened over 7.5 million (75 lakh) students.

Key Highlights of the Campaign:

  • Over 70 Health Parameters: Screenings covered various aspects, including vision, hearing, dental health, and physical fitness.
  • Digital Follow-up: A mobile app-based system was developed for health monitoring, aligning with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

AI-Based Evaluation Improves Learning Outcomes

The report also highlighted the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology and the AI-based evaluation system being used under the ‘Mukhyamantri Shikshit Rajasthan Abhiyan’. This system is credited with bringing about revolutionary changes in the education sector.

  • Combating Learning Poverty: The system has helped over 400,000 (4 lakh) students overcome “learning poverty.”
  • Annual Improvement: The state recorded an annual improvement of 8-10 percent in learning levels.
  • Rajasthan Parakh Report 2024: The state outperformed the national average, securing a place among the top 10 states in the country.
  • Mathematics Mastery: The report also mentions the ‘Padhai with AI’ program conducted in Tonk district, which has played a crucial role in improving student performance in mathematics and other subjects.

Rajasthan: An Emerging Hub of Educational Innovation

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Rajasthan is emerging as an ‘Excellent Pathshala’ (Excellence Hub) across the country through the integrated use of education, health, and modern technology. NITI Aayog’s appreciation of these innovations serves as a testament to the success of the state’s education system, providing a replicable model for other states. This report underscores how technology and policy efforts in the right direction can build a strong foundation for future generations.
