Maruti Unveils e-Vitara at ₹10.99 Lakh Under Battery Subscription Plan

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, has rolled out the pricing details of its much-anticipated electric SUV, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. The company announced that the model will be introduced at an entry price of ₹10.99 lakh under a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) structure.

Battery Subscription to Lower Upfront Cost

Under the BaaS program, buyers will pay separately for battery usage at ₹3.99 per kilometre. This structure is aimed at reducing the initial purchase cost while offering flexibility in running expenses. Bookings have already commenced with a token amount of ₹21,000.

A Market Ready for Acceleration

According to the company, India’s electric passenger vehicle segment appears to be at a turning point. EV penetration in the passenger vehicle category has hovered around 4–5% over the past two years. With fresh product launches and improved infrastructure, the automaker expects this share to climb more rapidly in the coming years.

Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales), stated that the company’s focus extends beyond just selling vehicles. By strengthening charging access, service readiness and customer engagement, the e-Vitara is expected to emerge as a preferred choice among EV buyers.

Impressive Range and Service Network

The e-Vitara promises a driving range of over 543 kilometres on a single charge, placing it among the longer-range electric SUVs in its segment. To support customers, the company has prepared more than 1,500 EV-ready service workshops across the country. Specially trained Nexa EV relationship managers and dedicated charging managers will assist buyers throughout ownership.

Introductory Benefits Available

Launch offers on the e-Vitara will remain valid until March 31, 2026. With its starting price, the SUV ranks as the fourth most affordable electric car in India after models such as the MG Comet EV, Tata Tiago EV and Tata Punch EV.

Charging Expansion Plans

Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi has earlier outlined the company’s broader EV ambitions. The automaker aims to facilitate the installation of over 100,000 charging points nationwide by the end of the decade. It has partnered with 13 charging point operators and has already set up nearly 2,000 dedicated charging points across 1,100 cities.

Customers will be able to locate, access and pay for charging through the company’s ‘e For Me’ mobile application, which integrates more than 10,000 partner charging stations into a single digital platform.

With competitive pricing, a flexible ownership model and expanding infrastructure support, the e-Vitara marks a significant step in Maruti Suzuki’s electric mobility journey in India.
