Jammu Kashmir -The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police raided the office of the Kashmir Times on Thursday, seizing incriminating material alleged to be promoting anti-national activities. Officials said the SIA seized AK rifle cartridges, some pistol rounds, and hand grenade pins, among other materials, during the raid.
Following the registration of a case against the publication and its promoters, the SIA conducted a detailed search of the newspaper’s premises and its computers. Following the raid, officials expect the publication’s promoters to be questioned soon.
Reacting to the incident, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Singh Choudhary said action should be taken only when wrongdoing is proven, not merely to exert pressure. “If something wrong has been done, action should be taken, but if this is being done to exert pressure, it would be wrong,” Choudhary told reporters.
