On Sunday, the Gurjar reservation movement once again disrupted operations on one of India’s busiest rail routes — the Delhi-Mumbai line. Around 4:33 PM, nearly 200 to 300 protestors gathered near Peelu Pura in Bayana, Bharatpur district, bringing rail traffic to a halt for nearly two hours.
According to the Kota Railway Division, to prevent any mishaps, the overhead electric supply was suspended, and trains were slowed down. Although no train was canceled or diverted, approximately a dozen trains had to be stopped at various stations.
The affected trains included:
- Train No. 20451 (Sogaria–New Delhi Express),
- 20653 (Thiruvananthapuram Central–Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express),
- 19109 (Kota–Mathura Express),
- 19019 (Bandra–Haridwar Express),
- 12401 (Kota–Dehradun Nanda Devi Express),
- 13238 (Kota–Patna Express),
- 22921 (Bandra–Gorakhpur Antyodaya Express).
With timely intervention and negotiation by local police and administration, protestors vacated the tracks after two hours, and regular train operations resumed. However, passengers faced considerable delays and inconvenience during the disruption.
