An undercover investigation by Dainik Bhaskar has caused a massive uproar in Uttar Pradesh politics. The sting operation claims that assembly election tickets for the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are being sold for crores of rupees. According to the report, a demand of ₹5 lakh was made just to arrange a meeting with party supremo Mayawati, and ₹3.35 crore in cash was demanded for an MLA ticket.

As the matter quickly went viral on social media, BSP President Mayawati came forward to strongly refute the allegations, terming the entire episode a conspiracy hatched by the opposition and a section of the media.

Bhaskar Investigation: Key Revelations of the Sting Operation

The undercover reporter posed as a political aspirant seeking a ticket from the BKT (Bakshi Ka Talab) assembly constituency in Lucknow. During the negotiations with senior BSP leaders, the following details emerged:

The ‘Meeting Fee’: BSP’s Lucknow District President Shailendra Gautam and UP State President Vishwanath Pal explicitly stated that an aspirant must bring ₹5 lakh in cash to meet ‘Behenji’ (Mayawati) as a candidate. This money is to be placed directly on her table in a blank envelope, with no receipts or accounts maintained for it.

Ticket Rate: A sum of ₹3.35 crore was demanded for the BKT seat. The leaders revealed that the rate varies depending on the constituency.

Mode of Transaction: The entire amount must be paid in cash. It can be deposited as a lump sum or in installments (e.g., ₹20 lakh, ₹50 lakh) within a timeframe of one to one-and-a-half months.

Lure of a Ministerial Berth: State President Vishwanath Pal assured the undercover reporter a “100% guarantee” of becoming a minister if the party formed the government.

Fee for a General Meeting: If someone does not want a ticket but simply wishes to meet Mayawati for her “blessings,” a separate fee of ₹2 lakh is allegedly charged.

Leaders Caught on Camera (As per the Report)

1. Shailendra Gautam (Lucknow District President): He explained the entire ticket purchasing process, stating that once the money is deposited, the candidate’s name is announced amid a crowd of 10,000 to 15,000 people. He made it clear that the party prioritizes a candidate’s financial capacity to deposit the funds over their political background.

2. Vishwanath Pal (UP State President): The State President finalized the deal in his private office. He pressured the reporter to arrange the cash quickly (within a month or so) as the elections are approaching. He even offered to make a phone call right then and there to schedule an immediate meeting with Mayawati.

Mayawati’s Counterattack: “It is Part of Candidate Screening”

Following the viral spread of the sting operation, BSP Supremo Mayawati took to social media (X/Twitter) to present her side, dismissing the report as entirely misleading. The key points of her statement are:

“The BSP is an honest, Ambedkarite party that runs on the physical, mental, and financial support of its own people, not on the backing of big capitalists or billionaires.”

Opposition is Rattled: She stated that as elections approach, capitalist and casteist forces resort to various gimmicks to defame the BSP and its “Iron Lady” leadership.

Tough Questions Misconstrued: Mayawati clarified that the State President (Vishwanath Pal) and other office-bearers were conducting solid screening of ticket seekers. To gauge a candidate’s social, political, and financial standing, as well as their loyalty and durability, the leaders ask tough, probing questions—much like a cross-examination in a courtroom. She argued that interpreting this grilling as “selling tickets” at face value is utterly wrong.

Appeal to Workers: She urged her party members not to fall prey to these sponsored rumors and to remain fully dedicated to their preparations for Mission 2027 (the UP Assembly Elections).

— Mayawati (@Mayawati) June 19, 2026

BSP’s Current Political Equation

Founded on April 14, 1984, by Kanshi Ram, the BSP was once at the pinnacle of power in Uttar Pradesh, but its political graph has seen a decline in recent years.

2022 UP Assembly Elections: The party secured a 12.9% vote share but managed to win only 1 seat.

Current Strategy: According to the report, anticipating early assembly elections, the party is strategizing to field Brahmin candidates on 40 to 50 seats.

Conclusion: This undercover investigation has reignited the debate over the commercialization of political tickets in UP. While the report visually depicts leaders demanding crores on camera, Mayawati is actively engaged in damage control, framing the captured conversations as merely a rigorous method to assess a candidate’s true capabilities.

LUCKNOW: Setting the stage for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former Chief Minister Mayawati has officially sounded the poll bugle. In a crucial strategy meeting held in Lucknow on Tuesday (June 16, 2026), she directed party workers to intensify their grassroots campaigns with a specific focus on the Other Backward Classes (OBC). Her ultimate goal is to replicate the historic 2007 victory and form an absolute majority government in the state.

Key Highlights of this News:

Mission 2027: BSP Chief Mayawati focuses on forming a full majority government, directing cadres to strengthen the grassroots base among OBC voters.

Attack on Opposition: Accused rival parties of historically opposing the Mandal Commission’s 27% reservation and deliberately rendering it ineffective.

BSP’s Legacy: Emphasized that the true welfare and rights of Dalits and OBCs were solely secure under the ‘Iron Lady’ government of the BSP.

The ‘Master Key’ Strategy: Urged the marginalized communities to stop lamenting their struggles and snatch the “master key of power” to become the ruling class.

Calling Out the Opposition’s “Casteist Mindset”

During the high-level meeting, Mayawati launched a scathing attack on rival political factions and the current administrations. She alleged that while opposition parties might elevate a single OBC face for selfish electoral gains, their overall mindset toward the socio-economic development of backward classes remains narrow and casteist. She reminded the public that these very parties fiercely opposed the implementation of the Mandal Commission report—which granted a 27 percent quota in government jobs and education—and are currently trying to neutralize this reservation system from the inside.

Reminding Voters of BSP’s Historic Reforms

Highlighting her party’s track record, the BSP supremo stated that her previous government not only enforced the Mandal Commission recommendations but also restored the pride of historically marginalized communities. By honoring great social reformers like Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj, and Sri Narayana Guru, the BSP laid a strong foundation for social transformation and economic liberation. Furthermore, she pointed out that it was the BSP government that, for the first time in the country, established separate ministries and commissions dedicated to the upliftment of Dalits and backward classes.

‘Current Governments Operating Only on Paper’

Criticizing the current administrative machinery, Mayawati remarked that genuine public welfare schemes are nowadays restricted merely to paperwork. She questioned the intent and policies of the governments, stating that this flawed approach is the primary reason the socio-economic condition of the OBC community is failing to improve.

Concluding with a powerful and strategic message, Mayawati appealed to the exploited classes that merely crying over their ongoing plight will not yield any results. The only permanent solution, she stated, is to unite under the BSP umbrella, take control of the “master key to power,” and transition from the exploited to the ruling class.

Uttar Pradesh: In a stern move against indiscipline and anti-party activities, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) initiated a major disciplinary crackdown in Western Uttar Pradesh on June 12, 2026. According to official press releases issued by the district presidents of Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, and Gautam Buddha Nagar, several key office bearers and former candidates have been expelled from the party with immediate effect.

Here is the detailed breakdown of the disciplinary actions taken across different districts:

Two Senior Leaders Expelled from Ghaziabad

Based on a press release issued by Manoj Kumar Jatav, the BSP District President of Ghaziabad, two prominent local figures have been removed from the party roster:

P.N. Garg: A former BSP candidate and resident of Bhaunja village in the Ghaziabad district.

Ravi Jatav: The former BSP in-charge for the Meerut division. He is a resident of Morta village, which falls under the Muradnagar assembly constituency.

Former Assembly Candidate Faces the Axe in Bulandshahr

The party leadership took a similarly tough stance in the Bulandshahr district. According to an official letter released by District President Ravindra Pradhan on June 12:

Haji Imran: A former BSP candidate who contested from the Sikandrabad assembly constituency has been expelled. He is a local resident of Sikandrabad.

Former Lok Sabha Candidate Expelled from Gautam Buddha Nagar

The Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida) unit also took strict action against a heavyweight leader on the same day. As per the press release issued by District President Lakhmi Singh:

Satveer Nagar: A resident of Greater Noida and a former BSP candidate for the Lok Sabha elections, has been expelled from the party’s primary membership.

The Primary Reason: ‘No Improvement Despite Repeated Warnings’

The party has cited a common reason for the expulsion of all these leaders: their deep involvement in anti-party activities and gross indiscipline.

The official press releases from all three district offices explicitly mentioned that these leaders were issued multiple warnings in the past to rectify their working styles and behavior. However, when they failed to show any signs of improvement, the Bahujan Samaj Party was compelled to make this tough decision to safeguard the “interests of the party and the movement.”

Disclaimer: This news article is based on the official press releases issued by the respective district offices of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on June 12, 2026. It has been prepared objectively for informational purposes and public awareness.

In a major political development for Karnataka the Congress party has announced a significant leadership transition. DK Shivakumar will be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of the state today. The grand ceremony is expected to see 13 to 15 cabinet ministers taking their oaths alongside the new leader to form the fresh state administration.

This transition comes after intense internal deliberations within the party leadership. The outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been appointed to the prestigious Congress Working Committee which is the apex decision making body of the party. Political analysts view this move as a strategic effort to balance state dynamics and utilize his vast governance experience at the national level.

Security has been heightened around the venue in Bengaluru as top national leaders and chief ministers from various states are arriving to attend the high profile event. The immediate focus of the incoming cabinet will be accelerating development projects and strengthening the party governance framework. Supporters of Shivakumar have already gathered in large numbers across the city to celebrate the transition and welcome the new leadership.

Political circles in Tamil Nadu are buzzing with intense speculation that former state BJP president K. Annamalai might soon exit the party to launch his own political outfit. Following the recent assembly elections, reports suggest growing friction between Annamalai and the national BJP leadership. This tension reportedly stems from policy disagreements and the party’s strategic alliances.

Adding to the intrigue, giant posters have surfaced in Coimbatore and Madurai featuring slogans that urge the former IPS officer to lead a new movement. Annamalai recently traveled to New Delhi, where he is expected to meet with top leadership including Union Home Minister Amit Shah to finalize his decision.

When questioned at the Chennai airport about his potential departure, Annamalai offered a cryptic response by stating he would speak freely in a couple of days. With youth voters closely watching his every move, a clean break from the BJP could drastically alter the political landscape of Tamil Nadu. As supporters rally online, all eyes remain on his upcoming announcement to see if a massive political shift is truly underway.

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala:

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated widespread raids on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, targeting multiple locations across Kerala, including the Thiruvananthapuram residence of former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. This operation is part of an ongoing investigation into a money laundering case linked to Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL).

Background and Grounds for the Raid

A 12-member ED team commenced search operations at Vijayan’s residence at Bakery Junction early Wednesday morning. The investigation centers on alleged financial transactions between ‘Exalogic Solutions,’ an IT firm owned by Vijayan’s daughter, T. Veena, and CMRL.

Core Allegations: Investigative agencies allege that between 2018 and 2019, CMRL made payments totaling ₹1.72 crore to Exalogic Solutions. Authorities claim these payments were recorded as business expenses despite no actual IT services or software support being provided.

Legal Context: The ED registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in 2024. This action followed a significant legal development on Tuesday, where the Kerala High Court dismissed a petition filed by CMRL seeking to quash the ED’s investigation.

Political Response

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) has expressed strong opposition to these raids. CPIM General Secretary MA Baby condemned the action, terming it a calculated attempt by the central government to target prominent opposition leaders. He alleged that federal agencies are being utilized for political retribution and questioned whether the UDF-led government in the state is complicit in these actions.

Scope of the Investigation

The gravity of the case is underscored by the fact that the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) is conducting a parallel inquiry alongside the ED. Notably, following the conclusion of his term as Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan currently serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Legislative Assembly. Recent administrative actions, including the suspension of certain security personnel assigned to Vijayan, are being viewed by observers in the context of this unfolding investigation.

Specifically, voters must use only the special violet-colored sketch pen provided by the Returning Officer to mark their preferences on the ballot paper; the use of any other pen will result in the ballot being declared invalid. Furthermore, the ECI has mandated the appointment of observers to oversee the proceedings, ensuring rigorous monitoring and transparency throughout the polling and counting phases.

The recent visit to Lucknow by Rajendra Pal Gautam, a senior Congress leader and National Chairman of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) SC Department, has become a major topic of discussion in political circles. During this visit, he attempted to meet Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati, a move being interpreted as a potential signal for future opposition alliances.

An Alliance Effort or Merely a Courtesy Call?

Rajendra Pal Gautam, accompanied by Barabanki MP Tanuj Punia and other associates, reached Mayawati’s residence to attempt a meeting. Although she was unavailable at the time, Gautam has requested a formal appointment. Political observers believe that the Congress party is taking this step to unify “progressive” forces against powers like the Sangh-BJP. Gautam’s initiative is viewed as a well-calculated strategy by the Congress to build a stronger front by bringing marginalized political forces together.

Political Analysis and Dharmendra Kumar Jatav’s Perspective

Dharmendra Kumar Jatav, AICC National Coordinator and Incharge Spokesperson for the SC Department, offered a sharp critique of these developments. Expressing his views through social media, Jatav stated that this effort by Congress and Rajendra Pal Gautam reflects their “broad-minded vision.”

Jatav remarked, “In alliance politics, a sense of responsibility toward the common people is paramount, which the Congress has always prioritized.” However, Jatav questioned the BSP’s current electoral strategy, suggesting that Mayawati may no longer be concerned with Dalit participation in power. He alleged that over the last 15 years, Mayawati has sidelined the Dalit community from the electoral field, relegating them to the “spectator gallery,” which he claims has caused significant harm to the community.

Challenges in the Path of an Alliance

There is ongoing speculation in political corridors regarding the past, specifically when BSP supporters labeled the Congress as “anti-Dalit” during the SP-Congress alliance in Uttar Pradesh. It remains to be seen whether this new outreach by the Congress can heal those old wounds.

Mayawati’s busy schedule and her current political stance suggest that there is still significant uncertainty regarding the BSP’s role in any potential opposition coalition. Nevertheless, Rajendra Pal Gautam’s attempt clearly demonstrates that the Congress is intensifying its efforts to secure the Dalit vote bank in the upcoming elections.
