Catherine Elise Blanchett, known as Cate Blanchett, was born on May 14, 1969, in Melbourne, Australia. She was raised by her parents, Robert and June Blanchett. Robert was a naval officer who died when Kate was 10 years old. Afterward, her mother single-handedly raised three children. Cate Blanchett is the middle child among two sisters and a brother.
Cate received her early education at Ivanhoe East Primary School and Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School. She then attended Methodist Ladies’ College in Melbourne and studied for a year at the University of Melbourne. However, after losing interest in her studies, she left her studies and set off to travel the world.
