Public Health Engineering Minister Issues Directions for Strengthening Water Supply

As part of the Gram Rath Campaign, the Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHED), Mr. Kanhiya Lal Choudhary, conducted a Night Chaupal (Village Gathering) in Chainpura village, located in the Malpura constituency of Tonk district. A large number of villagers attended the session to share their concerns and suggestions directly with the Minister.

Strict Directives on Water Supply Amid Heatwave

Given the intense summer heat, the PHED Minister issued firm instructions to departmental officials to ensure a robust water supply system:

  • Monitoring Illegal Connections: The Minister directed officials to maintain strict vigilance against unauthorized water connections to ensure uninterrupted and smooth drinking water supply for the general public.
  • Infrastructure Strengthening: He ordered officials to prioritize the maintenance and strengthening of the water supply network across rural blocks.

Empowering Farmers and Enhancing Income

Minister Choudhary highlighted the state and central government’s commitment to the “Antyodaya” vision—uplifting the last person in the queue. Key highlights for the agricultural sector included:

  1. Kisan Samman Nidhi: The annual financial assistance for farmers has been increased from ₹6,000 to ₹9,000. More than ₹12,000 crore has been transferred directly into the accounts of over 76 lakh farmers in the state.
  2. Interest-Free Loans: Under the Rajasthan Cooperative Gopal Credit Card Scheme, farmers are now eligible for interest-free loans up to ₹1 lakh.
  3. Agricultural Ecosystem: The Minister noted that initiatives like ‘GRAM-2026′ are being organized to create a stronger ecosystem to double farmers’ income and provide better crop insurance claim processing.

Administrative Coordination

The public hearing was attended by Tonk District Collector Tina Dabi and CEO Parshuram Dhanka. Villagers raised issues concerning electricity, education, health, and other basic infrastructure. Minister Choudhary assured that the state government is committed to taking development to every doorstep and that the Gram Rath Campaign is a vital bridge for this mission.

Conclusion

The Night Chaupal in Chainpura served as a proactive platform for grassroots governance. By addressing immediate needs like drinking water and promoting long-term financial schemes like interest-free loans, the government aims to ensure both the survival and prosperity of the rural population during the harsh summer months.
