Naresh Kumar Meena (born 16 August, 1979) is a prominent Indian politician from Baran district, Rajasthan.He has carved a niche for himself in state politics due to his grassroots activism, outspoken political stance, and independent identity.He is affectionately known as “Chhota Kirodi” among his supporters—a nickname he earned for his aggressive style and straightforward stance against the establishment.
Early Life and Family
Naresh Meena was born in 16 August 1979 in Nayagaon village, Atru tehsil, Baran district, Rajasthan.His family has long been involved in social and political activities.His father, Kalyan Singh Meena, served as the village sarpanch for nearly three decades, while his mother also served in the same capacity.The women in the family have been very active at the local level—his wife, Sunita Meena, is a Zila Parishad member, and his younger brother’s wife has served as a Panchayat Samiti member.-

Naresh Meena Education
Naresh Meena received his early education in schools in and around his village.For higher education, he went to Rajasthan University, Jaipur, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in 2002.During this time, he entered student politics, which laid the foundation for his political career.

Start of Political Career
While studying at Rajasthan University, Naresh Meena joined the student organization, the National Students Union of India (NSUI).Through years of hard work and popularity, he was elected General Secretary of the Rajasthan University Students Union (RUSU).This was the first major step in his public life, earning him recognition at the state level.
Congress affiliation and differences
After active participation in student politics, Naresh Meena joined the Indian National Congress (INC) and became one of the party’s young leaders.He was considered close to Congress leader Sachin Pilot.However, repeated denials of an assembly ticket and disagreements with the party’s policies led him to distance himself from the Congress.Following this, he decided to contest elections independently.

Step into Independent Politics
2023 Chhabra Assembly Election :
In the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections, after being denied a ticket from the Congress, Naresh Meena decided to contest as an independent candidate from the Chhabra seat in Baran district.He secured nearly 44,000 votes, a remarkable achievement for an independent candidate.
2024 Deoli-Uniyara By-Election
In 2024, Congress nominated Kastur Chand Meena, against whom Naresh Meena contested the Deoli-Uniyara by-election as an independent candidate.His popularity increased further in this election—he received approximately 60,000 votes.However, this move led to Congress suspending him from the party.
2025: Protests and Anta By-Election
In September 2025, Naresh Meena led a movement demanding justice and compensation for the victims of the collapse of a government school building in Piplodi village, Jhalawar district.His arrest caused a stir in state politics. He was later released on bail by the Rajasthan High Court.On October 14, 2025, Naresh Meena filed his nomination for the Anta Assembly by-election following the disqualification of MLA Kanwar Lal Meena.

Hunger Strike and Public Movement
Following the Jhalawar school tragedy, Naresh Meena began a hunger strike in Jaipur,aimed at securing justice and compensation for the families of the victims.During the fast, his health deteriorated and he was admitted to SMS Hospital, Jaipur.
He received support from RLP leader Hanuman Beniwal, while former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also appealed to the government for intervention.After a 15-day continuous fast, he ended his fast on September 26, 2025.
