Kainat Imtiaz: Pakistan’s shining cricket star and style icon

Kainat Imtiaz, a key player in the Pakistan women’s cricket team, is known not only for her impressive all-around performance, but also for her stylish personality, which sets her apart from the crowd. Born on June 21, 1992, in Karachi, Kainat showed an interest in sports from an early age. She excelled in both cricket and athletics—proving her versatility by excelling in track and field events such as the 200m, 400m, shot-put, and relay races.

Kainat’s cricketing journey began when she met India’s legendary fast bowler Jhulan Goswami at the 2005 Women’s Asia Cup. This meeting inspired her to take fast bowling seriously. She subsequently established herself as a reliable right-handed batsman and medium-pace bowler.

At the domestic level, Kainat represented teams like Karachi, Sindh, and Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited, and under her captaincy, led Karachi to victory in the Under-17 tournament. She was also named “Player of the Tournament” in this tournament.

Internationally, she made her T20 International debut against Ireland in 2010 and made her ODI debut in 2011. Since then, she has consistently contributed to Pakistan. Her achievements include leading Pakistan to a gold medal at the 2010 Asian Games.

Kainat married Mohammad Waqar Uddin on March 30, 2022, and pursued her cricket career while balancing her personal life.

Kainat, who perfectly balances style and athleticism, has become an inspiration for Pakistan’s younger generation—a player who shines both on and off the field.
