Women World Cup: Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 7 wickets, bowlers put in a superb performanc

Women World Cup 2025 : The Bangladesh women’s cricket team bowled out Pakistan for just 129 runs in the Women’s ODI World Cup on Thursday, displaying a superb bowling performance. Pakistan’s batsmen couldn’t withstand the Bangladesh bowlers, and the entire team was dismissed cheaply in 38.3 overs. Chasing the target, Bangladesh won the match by scoring 131 runs for the loss of three wickets in 31.1 overs.

Marufa Akhtar’s Wrath –

For Bangladesh, 20-year-old fast bowler Marufa Akhtar took two crucial wickets for 31 runs. She destroyed Pakistan’s batting by dismissing their opening pair in the very first over. Marufa’s excellent bowling gave Pakistan early blows and made the score difficult.

Rubaya Haider’s Match-Winning Innings

Chasing Pakistan’s small target, Bangladesh batsman Rubaya Haider played an unbeaten innings of 54 runs. She was supported by captain Nigar Sultana, who scored 23 runs, and together they shared a 62-run partnership for the third wicket. Bangladesh, however, had a poor start, losing a wicket for just seven runs. Nevertheless, Haider and Sultana easily led the team to victory.

Pakistan’s Batting Woes –

Pakistan’s innings continued to crumble from the start. Left-arm spinner Nahida Akhtar dismissed Muneeba Ali (17) and Rameen Shamim (23) after the powerplay. Pakistan’s score was 47 for four after the 14th over. Even then, Pakistan’s batting continued to struggle, and no batsman could play a long innings against the Bangladesh bowlers. In the end, Pakistan failed to reach even 100 runs, being all out in 38.3 overs.

Shorana Akhtar’s hitwicket dismissal

Pakistan’s batsmen’s troubles worsened when Nashra Sandhu was caught hitwicket by Shorana Akhtar. She became the second batsman in women’s cricket history to be dismissed in this manner.

Thus, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets, securing a victory in their first match, thanks to excellent bowling and responsible batting.
