On World Rabies Day, cattle farmers were made aware in Hindaun, free vaccination campaign was organised.

Hindaun City, Karauli : On the occasion of World Rabies Day, livestock owners and the general public were made aware of rabies at the Government Multipurpose Veterinary Hospital, Hindaun City, on Sunday. Animal Husbandry Department officials provided information on the symptoms, prevention, and treatment of rabies.

Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry, Dr. Bane Singh Meena, stated, “Rabies is an incurable disease.” He advised that if bitten by a dog, cat, monkey, or other wild animal, the affected area should be thoroughly washed with soap and an anti-rabies vaccine should be administered immediately. This vaccination can prove to be life-saving.

Livestock Extension Officer, Rajesh Sharma, stated, “Anti-rabies vaccine is available free of charge for pets at the polyclinic in Hindaun City.” He urged dog owners to get their dogs vaccinated regularly.

On this occasion, Senior Veterinary Officers Dr. Piyush Goyal and Ramraj Mandawat informed that 296 pets have been vaccinated since April. Today, on the occasion of World Rabies Day, 15 pets, including dogs and cats, received anti-rabies vaccination.

Senior Veterinary Officers Dr. Vinay Mangal and Dr. Keshav Gupta explained that rabies is a viral disease caused by Revovirus and affects the central nervous system. The only treatment is vaccination, which helps prevent rabies.

Dr. Akanksha Garg, Senior Livestock Extension Officer Brahmanand Gupta, Livestock Inspectors Ashish Shukla, Sushil Lahkodia, Pramod Kumar, Rahul Beniwal, and other departmental personnel were present on this occasion.

Vaccination is provided free of charge to pet owners at the departmental veterinary hospital.
